Speaking at the opening ceremony of the tournament, Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau - Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Head of the tournament's Organizing Committee emphasized: "The National U.15 Football Championship is an official tournament of the national youth competition system and has become a familiar place for young players to compete and hone their talents, while contributing to stabilizing the country's football competition system.
In recent years, VFF has made changes to the competition format, aiming to increase competition opportunities for young players and this has been highly appreciated by clubs, teams and experts as it creates a healthy competitive environment, promoting the development of both quantity and quality for the next generation of players of the clubs in particular and the national teams in general.
U.15 PVF team's first win
The first matches in Group A took place on the afternoon of August 31st and were quite exciting. With home field advantage and being rated higher, defending champion PVF easily won 3 points when defeating Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center with a score of 2-0. Meanwhile, U.15 SHB Da Nang and Dong Nai drew 0-0.
Group B witnessed a remarkable match between The Cong Viettel and Quang Ngai. It was no surprise that The Cong Viettel were the ones to dominate after the opening whistle. The army team pressed and forced Quang Ngai to defend.
When the first half had passed more than 1/3 of the time, the goal came to U.15 The Cong Viettel in an unexpected way. Goalkeeper Do Hoang Gia Bao of U.15 Quang Ngai made a mistake and let the ball slowly roll into the goal. The northern representative took the lead and had a big psychological advantage. Quang Ngai tried to find an opportunity but failed. In the 39th minute, receiving a pass from Thanh Hai, captain Le Trong Dai Nhan fired a beautiful long-range shot to double the gap for The Cong Viettel. The remaining minutes were not enough for Quang Ngai to make a difference. The two teams left the field with a big advantage for The Cong Viettel.
Entering the second half, The Cong Viettel maintained enough pressure to prevent the opponent from advancing their formation. The efforts of U.15 Quang Ngai did not bring much effect. When the attack could not score, the defense of the Central representative continued to make mistakes. In the 84th minute, after a chaotic situation in front of the penalty area, Phung Quang Danh shot from a long distance with his left foot to widen the gap to 3 goals for The Cong Viettel. 1 minute later, substitute Huy Hoang sealed the 4-0 victory for the army team and it was still a masterpiece from outside the penalty area.
In the remaining match, the U.15 Ho Chi Minh City team faced many difficulties when facing Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The coastal city team's attack played very impressively. In the 41st minute, Quang Hung scored a beautiful goal to open the score for Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
In the second half, the strikers of this team played even more effectively. Bao Nam and Quang Hung continued to score, widening the gap to 3 goals. In the final minutes of the match, Quang Khoi and Gia Huy sealed the 5-0 victory for U.15 Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Quang Khoi is the son of former Vietnam national team striker Nguyen Quang Hai, the 2008 AFF Cup champion.
