According to a survey by reporters from Cong Thuong Newspaper, airfares are increasing sharply on some routes such as from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi and the Central provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Dong Hoi, Quy Nhon, Da Nang, etc.
Specifically, the airfares for economy class on domestic routes during the Lunar New Year 2025 (prices including taxes and fees) are as follows: For the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route, the most frequently operated route and also the route with the largest number of passengers, the airfare (including taxes and fees) for economy class on January 21, 2025 (the 22nd day of the lunar calendar - the period before the holiday) of Vietnam Airlines is about 3.7 million VND/way; Vietjet Air has prices ranging from 2.9 - 3 million VND/way; Bamboo Airways has prices around 3.7 million VND/way and Vietravel Airlines around 2.9 million VND/way.

In addition, for the Ho Chi Minh City - Hue and Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon routes on this day, the ticket price is also 2.37 million VND/way for Vietnam Airlines and 2.4 million VND/way for Vietjet Air.
In the opposite direction, the ticket prices show the difference. Specifically: For the Hue - Ho Chi Minh City route, Vietnam Airlines' ticket prices range from 1.1 - 1.7 million VND/way, Vietjet Air's prices range from 0.9 - 1 million VND/way and for the Quy Nhon - Ho Chi Minh City route, Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Vietravel Airlines offer ticket prices of about 0.7 million VND/way, Bamboo Airways records ticket prices of about 0.6 million VND/way.
Entering the holiday season starting on January 25, 2025, ticket prices of Vietnamese airlines have increased and decreased differently between airlines.
On the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi route, Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways offer tickets at around VND3.6 million/way; while Vietjet Air has a price of around VND3.6 million/way, up 20% compared to the time before the holiday, and Vietravel Airlines records a ticket price of around VND3.4 million/way, up 17% compared to the time before the holiday. On some other domestic routes, ticket prices announced by Vietnamese airlines also recorded a slight increase compared to the time before the holiday.
In addition, for ticket prices for the peak period after Tet on February 2, 2025 (the last day of the holiday), Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways ticket prices are about 3.6 million VND/way; Vietjet Air has a price of about 3.6-3.7 million VND/way; and Vietravel Airlines is about 3.7 million VND/way.
Thus, compared to normal ticket prices, Tet At Ty airfares are twice as high; and compared to Tet 2024, this year's prices are 800,000 - 1.4 million VND/ticket higher.
Flights from Ho Chi Minh City to other localities are also expensive, averaging 6-7 million VND/round trip ticket. For example, the flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Thanh Hoa/Nghe An during Tet is 7.4 million VND/round trip ticket; passengers flying to Da Nang have to pay about 5 million VND/round trip ticket...
Some flights on Vietjet Air's ticketing system have even sold out of Tet tickets, such as the Ho Chi Minh City - Dong Hoi route "sold out" from January 22-26, 2025 (ie from December 23 to 27); Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon sold out from January 24 to 26, 2025,... Most of these routes are operated by airlines with few flights, so the number of tickets is quickly sold out.
The price difference trend between the two-way flight route Pleiku - Ho Chi Minh City is similar. Specifically: For the flight route Pleiku - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Airlines recorded a price of about 1.9 million VND/way and the flight route Ho Chi Minh City - Pleiku recorded a price of about 1.4 million VND/way by Vietnam Airlines and 1.2 million VND/way by Vietjet Air.
After this peak period, on February 7, 2025 (ie 5 days after the end of the holiday), Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways ticket prices remained at VND 3.6 million/way; while Vietjet Air had prices ranging from VND 3.1 - 3.7 million/way, down 16% compared to the previous time; and Vietravel Airlines offered tickets ranging from VND 3.1 - 3.4 million/way, down 19% compared to the previous time.
For the Nha Trang – Ho Chi Minh City route, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air offer ticket prices ranging from 1.8 million VND/way; while for the return flight from Ho Chi Minh City – Nha Trang, Vietnam Airlines offers ticket prices ranging from 1-1.5 million VND/way.

Implementing the Government's Directive and the direction of the Ministry of Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has proactively requested Vietnamese airlines to develop and deploy plans to serve the Lunar New Year early, including nighttime operations, to best serve people returning home and traveling during the Lunar New Year of the Snake in 2025.
In preparation for the peak season of the Lunar New Year 2025, Vietnamese airlines have planned to add aircraft and increase capacity on domestic and international routes, accordingly: (i) Vietjet Air plans to add 06 more aircraft (owned, dry leased and wet leased) and (ii) Vietnam Airlines plans to add 05 aircraft (dry leased and wet leased).
During the period from January 14, 2025 to February 12, 2025, Vietnamese airlines will provide more than 6.9 million seats on international and domestic routes with an average of 227,000 seats/day, an increase of 4% compared to Lunar New Year 2024.
The total number of seats provided on domestic routes is approximately 4.8 million (an average of 160,000 seats/day), an increase of about 3.5% over the same period in 2024.
