The price of USD at many banks and on the free market this morning increased again despite the slight decrease in the price of the greenback on the world market.
The central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong and the USD announced by the State Bank today is 24,253 VND/USD, an increase of 11 VND compared to the listed rate last weekend.
Applying a 5% margin, commercial banks are allowed to trade today at a ceiling rate of VND25,465/USD and a floor rate of VND23,040/USD.
At the State Bank of Vietnam, the reference USD buying price has been maintained at VND23,400/USD for many months. The reference USD selling price has been kept at VND25,450/USD since October 25.
At many commercial banks, the USD price today turned up after falling last week.
The selling price of USD at banks today increased by 11 VND compared to the listed price at the end of last week and was listed at the ceiling price of 25,465 VND/USD.
Meanwhile, the USD buying price at many banks was adjusted up, with a common range of 10-31 VND.
Specifically, at the opening of today's trading session, Vietcombank raised the USD cash buying price to 25,095 VND/USD, an increase of 31 VND compared to the listed price at the beginning of the trading session last weekend (November 1).
Similarly, BIDV also increased by 20 VND, bringing the USD buying price to 25,125 VND/USD. This morning, VietinBank listed the USD buying price at 25,115 VND/USD, up 18 VND.
In the private banking sector, the USD buying price has also been adjusted up by many banks.
Techcombank raised the USD buying price to 25,096 VND/USD, 14 VND more expensive than last weekend.
ACB also adjusted the USD cash buying price up to 25,090 VND/USD, 10 VND higher.
In the free market, the USD price continued to increase. Foreign exchange points in the free market this morning bought USD at a common price of 25,780 VND/USD, and sold at 25,880 VND/USD, an increase of 90 VND in both buying and selling compared to the previous session.
On the world market, the USD price decreased slightly at the beginning of the week. The US Dollar Index (measuring the fluctuations of the greenback against 6 major currencies) at 10:16 a.m. on November 4 (Vietnam time) was at 103.68 points, down 0.58% compared to the previous session.
The dollar fell as markets prepared for a pivotal week for the global economy, with the U.S. electing a new leader and possibly cutting interest rates again.
