According to Lao Dong, on the third day of Tet, markets and supermarkets in Hanoi reopened, but were not too crowded, and prices of meat, fish, and vegetables increased by 10-15%.
Of which, chrysanthemum greens and celery increased from 3,000 - 5,000 VND to 15,000 VND/bunch; water spinach increased by 2,000 VND, from 10,000 VND to 12,000 VND/bunch; green mustard and jute increased by 3,000 VND, from 5,000 VND to 8,000 VND/bunch; cabbage increased from 10,000 VND to 12,000 VND/kg; broccoli increased by 3,000 VND, from 15,000 VND to 18,000 VND/piece.
The most expensive is green onions, the price has doubled compared to before Lunar New Year 2024.
"Before Tet, we imported scallions for 30,000 VND/kg, but now we have to import for 60,000 VND/kg and sell for 70,000 VND/kg," said Ms. Nguyen Huong, a trader at Trung Kinh market (Cau Giay).
Explaining the high price of green onions, Ms. Huong said that before Tet, the weather in the North was very cold, with temperatures sometimes dropping below 5 degrees Celsius. The harsh weather prevented green onions from growing, which is why the price of green onions increased.
Meanwhile, pork, beef, shrimp, fish, etc. are abundant, prices are the same as before Tet, not much higher than normal days.
Beef costs from 280,000 - 300,000 VND/kg; chicken 130,000 - 140,000 VND/kg; pork belly 130,000 VND/kg; grass carp cut into pieces 130,000 VND/kg; carp 160,000 VND/kg; small tiger prawns 280,000 VND/kg, large ones 380,000 - 400,000 VND/kg...
In a quick assessment of the market situation and price developments in some localities, in a report sent to the press on February 11, the Price Management Department (Ministry of Finance) said that many activities and entertainment venues in major cities are expected to open, attracting visitors to visit and have fun in the coming days.
Prices for services such as parking, food services, etc. often increase compared to normal days according to the annual rule to cover the costs for workers working overtime during Tet.
Prices of some fresh food items such as fish, beef, green vegetables... are forecast to increase slightly.
To ensure a balance in the quantity of goods to meet people's consumption needs and avoid shortages and sudden price increases, the Ministry of Finance requests ministries, branches and localities to continue to closely monitor the supply and demand developments and market prices of goods under their management, especially essential goods with high price fluctuations in the area.
