(GLO)- On July 28, at Gia Lai Provincial Police, Gia Lai Provincial BLO Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ratanakiri Provincial BLO Office (Kingdom of Cambodia) on exchanging information on drug prevention and control and cross-border crimes.
Attending the signing ceremony were Mr. Duong Mah Tiep - Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Su Se Ray - Deputy Governor, Chief of BLO Office of Ratanakiri province; Colonel Duong Van Long - Deputy Director of Provincial Police, Chief of BLO Office of Gia Lai province, together with leaders of functional departments, agencies and Police of Gia Lai and Ratanakiri provinces.

The BLO Office is the focal point for communication, information exchange, sharing and coordination of international cooperation activities in the fight against drugs and cross-border crimes; supporting, maintaining and promoting cooperation between functional forces and law enforcement agencies of Gia Lai province and relevant agencies of the Kingdom of Cambodia in the fight against drugs and crimes.
At the ceremony, delegates discussed, evaluated, and reported on the operation process and achievements of BLOs in each province, and pointed out the advantages, limitations, and difficulties in fighting and preventing drug crimes in particular and other types of crimes in general. On that basis, the two sides affirmed the need for information exchange and close coordination to improve work efficiency, contributing significantly to ensuring security and order on the border as well as effectively fighting and preventing transnational drug crimes.
Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Duong Van Long - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, Chief of the Gia Lai Provincial BLO Office informed: Gia Lai is a province with more than 80 km of border adjacent to Ratanakiri province, with Le Thanh International Border Gate, 2 openings, 6 small-scale roads. In recent times, crimes on the border, especially drug crimes, have become complicated. Therefore, the work of grasping the situation and exchanging information in the border areas between Gia Lai Provincial BLO and Ratanakiri Provincial BLO to serve the work of preventing and combating drugs and other crimes is an urgent requirement. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two Offices will facilitate the exchange, sharing of information and coordination of international cooperation activities in the fight against drugs and cross-border crimes; support, maintain and promote cooperation between functional forces and law enforcement agencies of Gia Lai province with relevant agencies of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Mr. Su Se Ray - Deputy Governor, Chief of the BLO Office of Ratanakiri province also affirmed: The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two sides is very necessary, both to strengthen cooperation in information exchange, mutual support in the fight against drug crimes and other types of crimes. Mr. Su Se Ray emphasized: The two sides always proactively exchange legal documents, current regulations in the field of drug and crime prevention. Strengthen coordination in the fields of information exchange; conduct professional activities; exchange legal documents, each side's experience in drug and crime prevention... help and support each other in improving capacity in work.
At the signing ceremony, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Duong Mah Tiep highly appreciated the BLO Offices of the two provinces for proactively implementing their tasks, actively advising local leaders to direct and effectively implement all aspects of work, contributing significantly to ensuring security and order in the area. At the same time, he affirmed that the agreement and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on coordination aims to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of work, continue to affirm the viewpoints and stances of ASEAN Governments on the fight against drug crimes and other types of crimes, as well as the spirit of solidarity and mutual support of the governments and people of the two provinces over the years.
The BLO offices of the two provinces discussed and agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on coordination and information exchange on drug and crime prevention and control, including 11 articles. In which, the two sides periodically report and exchange information on the general situation of drug prevention and control and other types of crime, especially information related to cases, organizations, transnational drug crime lines, wanted subjects hiding in the territories of the two countries for verification, arrest and extradition; evidence collected and consequences caused by crimes. The situation of drug crimes and other related crimes such as: human trafficking, illegal trading and transportation of weapons, explosives, support tools, firecrackers; production and circulation of counterfeit money, trading and transportation of prohibited and smuggled goods; illegal wildlife trafficking; illegal exploitation, trading and transportation of forest products, minerals and precious stones...

On this occasion, the provincial leaders and the Gia Lai Provincial BLO Office presented meaningful gifts to the Ratanakiri Provincial BLO Office, aiming to strengthen solidarity; the two sides expressed their determination to effectively coordinate in the coming time.
It is known that the Gia Lai Provincial BLO Office is an interdisciplinary unit established under Decision No. 314/QD-UBND dated June 7, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee, based on the advice of relevant units (Provincial Police, Provincial Border Guard Command and Gia Lai-Kon Tum Customs Department). In which, the Provincial Police is the focal agency for implementation; relevant departments, branches and sectors at the provincial level are the coordinating agencies and units.
