Southern pig price

The Southern region has continued its strong upward trend in recent days. Currently, the price of live pigs here fluctuates from 69,000 - 72,000 VND/kg.

Dong Nai alone has the highest purchasing price in the country, reaching 72,000 VND/kg. Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tay Ninh and Dong Thap have lower prices, all trading at 71,000 VND/kg.

According to experts, the upward trend in pork prices may continue in the short term but may slow down when supply becomes more stable.

According to Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, information from the Hoc Mon Wholesale Market Management Company said that on February 4, the number of pigs arriving at the market was about 2,635. The price of grade 1 pork is currently recorded at 100,000 VND/kg, while grade 2 is priced at 95,000 VND/kg.

Thus, this price has increased compared to the end of December, when the market was preparing for Tet, with the price of pork at that time being around 91,000 VND/kg. The amount of pork coming to the market is currently only about 50% of the average level on normal days.

A representative of the Hoc Mon Wholesale Market Management Company explained that the current shortage of goods is only local. "It is only the 7th of January, many people are still on Tet holiday, so there are not many goods coming in, the market is still in the exploration phase. The first days of the year are very difficult to predict, just a slight increase in the amount of goods can lead to oversupply, while a slight decrease can easily lead to scarcity" - this representative analyzed.
