After considering the proposal of Hoi An City People's Committee and the Department of Construction on extending the contract for the restoration of the Chua Cau relic, the Provincial People's Committee agreed in principle to extend the contract for this construction project by 180 days to complete the remaining work and volume.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the People's Committee of Hoi An City (investor) to be responsible for re-checking the legality of the Construction Contract No.
68 dated December 26, 2022 was assigned by the city to the Hoi An Cultural Heritage Management and Conservation Center to sign with the construction contractor. Based on the construction contract signed with the contractor, inspect and determine the causes affecting the contract progress, and impose penalties for violations of contract progress delays if due to subjective reasons of the contractor.

At the same time, organize negotiations and sign a contract appendix with the contractor on adjusting the contract implementation time to ensure that it does not exceed the project implementation time approved by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 834 dated April 5, 2024. It is noted that extending the contract implementation time does not increase construction costs compared to the signed contract.
In addition, calculate and make a detailed plan for the implementation progress of the work contents and remaining volume, and urge and direct the construction contractor to focus on accelerating the implementation progress, completing the project to ensure quality, on schedule, and being extended for acceptance, handover and putting the project into use, and finalizing the completed project according to the provisions of law.
The Provincial People's Committee also requested the departments (including Planning and Investment, Finance, Construction, Culture, Sports and Tourism) and related sectors and units, according to their assigned functions and tasks, to be responsible for monitoring, guiding, inspecting and supervising the People's Committee of Hoi An City in the process of implementing the project to ensure progress, quality and compliance with legal regulations.
Previously, in December 2023, Hoi An City People's Committee decided to temporarily stop the restoration of the floor of the Chua Cau relic (the path across the bridge of Chua Cau) due to many disagreements.

The total cost of the Chua Cau restoration project is 20.2 billion VND, with a construction period of 360 days. The project will start on December 28, 2022.
