Leaders of Vietnam Family Magazine and Thieu Hoa District People's Committee attended the program.
“Full Moon Festival” is a special Mid-Autumn Festival program for the people and children in Thieu Vu commune, especially the children from the new settlement area of Dong Sau Cach.
After many years of living on the Chu River, in August 2023, 28 households in Thieu Vu Commune, Thieu Hoa District, Thanh Hoa Province were officially allowed to move ashore and live in solid houses in the new Dong Sau Cach resettlement area (in Lam Dat Village). For the first time, the watercraft households were able to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival onshore with many meaningful recreational activities.
Speaking at the gift-giving ceremony, Journalist Ho Minh Chien - Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Family Magazine said that giving gifts as well as organizing meaningful and useful programs for children on every Mid-Autumn Festival is an annual activity of Vietnam Family Magazine. The gifts, though small, are the hearts of the staff and reporters of Vietnam Family Magazine with the desire to bring a warmer Mid-Autumn Festival to teenagers and children.

“We hope that the small gifts on the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival will somehow provide more encouragement for the children to strive to excel in their studies, especially for the children of 28 families who have just come ashore to stabilize their lives,” said the Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Family Magazine.
Journalist Ho Minh Chien also expressed his desire to continue to accompany the locality in the future to have more practical activities in caring for and helping the lives of children, especially those in difficult circumstances.
At the program, Vietnam Family Magazine presented 50 gifts, each worth 1 million VND, to children from 28 families with disabilities, children in especially difficult circumstances, children with disabilities, and children with high academic achievements.

Receiving the affection and meaningful gifts, Mr. Pham Manh Toan - Deputy Secretary, Chairman of Thieu Vu Commune People's Committee highly appreciated and expressed his respect when Vietnam Family Magazine accompanied the locality to bring a joyful and healthy Mid-Autumn Festival to children in the area.
“Organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival for children is an indispensable activity in Thieu Vu commune. However, the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2023 is more special when 28 hydroelectric households are supported by the local government to build houses and stabilize their lives on land. Therefore, the participation of Vietnam Family Magazine with the locality in organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival for children is an extremely meaningful and practical activity, helping children celebrate their first Mid-Autumn Festival on land,” said the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thieu Vu commune.
Participating in the program, the children also enjoyed a unique and attractive performance, participated in a fun Mid-Autumn Festival scene with many interesting prizes and enjoyed the Mid-Autumn Festival together. The program brought the children a joyful, warm and loving Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere.
Children participated in a special and attractive art program at the festival.
Touched by the attention of the Vietnam Family Magazine, Mr. Nguyen Huu Luc - Thieu Vu commune could not hide his emotions and said: “Since the District Party Committee granted land and built a stable house on the shore, life has changed a lot. Previously, every Mid-Autumn Festival, families like ours could only drift on the river, and could only let their children celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival on a boat. This is the first year that the children have gathered to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival at the Commune People's Committee. I am very happy and grateful for the gifts from the Vietnam Family Magazine and the local government for our children on this meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival.”
Sharing the same sentiment, Ms. Tran Thi Yen - Principal of Thieu Vu Kindergarten sent her thanks to Vietnam Family Magazine and local leaders: "Organizing the "Full Moon Festival Night" is an extremely humane activity, not only bringing the joy of Mid-Autumn Festival to children but also sharing with students in difficult circumstances to make the Mid-Autumn Festival more warm".
At the end of the Mid-Autumn Festival gift giving activity, Journalist Ho Minh Chien and local leaders visited households in the new settlement area of Dong Sau Cach (in Lam Dat village).
In a house still smelling of new paint, Mr. Nguyen Huu Luc - one of 28 households in the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee's program to support the construction of houses for poor Catholics living on the river said that his family is truly grateful and feels lucky to have a new, sturdy and spacious house to live in, no longer having to worry every time the rain and wind come.
Mr. Nguyen Van Bien - Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Thieu Hoa district, journalist Ho Minh Chien and local leaders visited and gave gifts to households in the new resettlement area of Thieu Vu commune.
At Dong Sau Cach settlement, 28 beautiful houses like a small neighborhood, were built near the commune center, convenient for people's travel and daily activities. People in Thieu Vu commune have long been familiar with the river profession, the whole family with many generations has to live on a narrow boat, drifting around the river to make a living. Being able to go to shore, children have better conditions to go to school, people of working age have the opportunity to work in factories and enterprises.
