On the occasion of October 20, Quang Ba flower market (Tay Ho district, Hanoi) became crowded and bustling. Customers came to the market to buy flowers for their wives, lovers, and friends, even though the prices this year were 3 times higher than usual.

On the evening of October 19 and early morning of October 20, Quang Ba flower market (Tay Ho, Hanoi) was much busier than usual. Buyers and sellers were bustling in and out to buy and sell flowers, causing the road leading to the market to be sometimes congested.

Like every year, this year's Quang Ba flower market has a variety of flowers with many shapes, sizes, colors... sold at the market on the occasion of Vietnamese Women's Day.

Flowers here are of all kinds, brought from famous flower growing regions of the North such as Tay Tuu, Me Linh, Dong Anh, Gia Lam… some flowers are transported from Da Lat, Lam Dong.

According to research, roses are the best-selling item, the price of roses ranges from 10,000 to 15,000 VND/flower, while on normal days the selling price is only about 3,000 to 5,000 VND/flower. Imported roses will have a higher price. A basket of roses costs from 250,000 to 1,000,000 VND depending on different sizes.

The largest fresh flower market in Hanoi is bustling. There is almost no space left in the market, the flower stalls are full of buyers. Young people visit, take pictures and choose for themselves the most beautiful bouquets of flowers.

While selling flowers to customers, Ms. Ha Thuy (a flower vendor at Quang Ba market) said that flower prices this year have increased compared to previous years. Of which, roses are the best-selling item imported from many sources to diversify customers' purchasing needs. "Roses are one of the fresh flowers with the strongest price increase during this time. Rose prices range from 150,000 - 200,000 VND/bunch of 50 flowers depending on flower size and color," Ms. Thuy added.

Many couples come here to buy flowers on the occasion of October 20.

Nguyen Dinh Nguyen (22 years old) said: "It was Vietnamese Women's Day, so I took advantage of the evening off from school to take my girlfriend out. On the way back, I saw a flower market with many beautiful flowers. I stopped by and chose the most beautiful bouquet to give to my girlfriend."

Men are excited about buying their favorite flowers to give to their wives, lovers, and friends.

Many elderly men also come to the flower market to choose beautiful bouquets of flowers to give to their mothers, wives and daughters.

Nguyen An (21 years old, student at the University of Finance and Banking) went to buy flowers with a group of friends and shared: “On October 20, my classmates and I went to buy flowers early to give to the girls in our class. When we got to the market, we saw many beautiful flowers, but because this was the first time we went to buy flowers, there were many things we didn’t know, so we were very confused.”

Trucks carrying flowers are continuously transported to the market to serve customers on this occasion.

Buyers and sellers alike were in a hurry. The later it got at night, the more crowded and bustling the market became. Quang Ba night flower market is open from around 8pm until early the next morning.
