According to the People's Committee of Son La province, currently, the whole province has 82,026 hectares of fruit trees and hawthorn trees; of which over 63,100 hectares have been harvested, with an output of over 379,000 tons. Area and output of some main crops, such as: 615 hectares of strawberries, with an output of 7,358 tons; over 12,400 hectares of plums, with an output of over 81,000 tons; nearly 19,700 hectares of mangoes, with an output of over 70,600 tons; over 19,940 hectares of longans, with an output of 77,000 tons.
By the end of June 2024, according to the Steering Committee for Production, Processing, Consumption and Export of Agricultural Products of Son La Province (Steering Committee 598), in the first 6 months of 2024, the total output of fruit trees consumed in the province was about 190,000 tons, with an estimated value of nearly 2,500 billion VND. Of which, some fruit trees have been harvested such as strawberries, plums and are in the main harvest season such as mango, banana, passion fruit, etc.
In terms of specific value, strawberries reached over 502 billion VND, plums reached over 1,305 billion VND, longans reached over 27 billion VND, bananas reached over 127 billion VND and mangoes about over 434 billion VND. The total export value of fruit trees reached approximately 82 billion VND, equivalent to over 12,000 tons of various fruits.
This year, Son La agricultural products are consumed in many domestic distribution channels. Specifically, plums were introduced to the supermarket chain of Saigon Co.op in May. Saigon Co.op supports the consumption of 100 tons of Son La plums harvested from Moc Chau and Yen Chau districts on the shelves of the Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, Finelife systems... with the best preferential prices on the market combined with product trial and display activities at 130 Co.opmart and Co.opXtra supermarkets.

In addition to fruit trees, some other agricultural products of the province also have high export value such as coffee reaching 53.9 million USD, tea 10.2 million USD and cassava products reaching 22.2 million USD.
In the following months, the Provincial People's Committee will continue to direct departments and branches to strengthen the monitoring, analysis and forecasting of domestic and foreign markets to promptly adjust production plans. Form production - consumption chains between farmers, cooperatives and enterprises. Ensure stable product consumption, limit market risks. Apply advanced technical measures and high technology to production to improve productivity and quality of agricultural products. Focus on product quality control from planting, harvesting to preservation and processing. Promote trade promotion to introduce the province's agricultural products to potential markets. Support farmers and enterprises to participate in trade promotion activities, connect supply and demand, and expand agricultural product consumption markets.
To improve consumption efficiency, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong - Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee requested members of the Steering Committee, People's Committees of districts and cities to focus on protecting agricultural raw material cultivation areas, especially fruit growing areas. Continue to issue new and maintain growing area codes, ensure quality and food safety of agricultural products for processing for factories, serving consumption for each focal point, domestic market and export. Direct the resolution of raw material area problems for processing factories related to linkage chains, linkage contracts, payment mechanisms between factories and farmers. Promote promotion, trade promotion, develop consumption markets, and export of agricultural products.
