Investing in deep processing: Opening the "door" to sustainable consumption for Son La agricultural products

In particular, the value of processed agricultural products for export in the 2021-2023 period increased by an average of 18.5% per year, exceeding the set target (the target is to increase by 12% per year). In 2023, the value of processed agricultural products for export reached 159.33 million USD, an increase of 6.42% over the same period in 2022; the main export products include: Coffee, tea, tapioca starch, longan, mango, passion fruit... (the target by 2025 is over 166 million USD).

Notably, the recovery and expansion of production and business activities, attracting key projects and high-tech agricultural processing factories have contributed to creating jobs and increasing provincial budget revenue in the 2021-2023 period, achieving the set plan; contributing to reducing the poverty rate of the whole province from 18.38% in 2020 to 14.41% in 2023. Social security is ensured, the material and spiritual life of the people is improved, the life of people in rural areas is significantly improved...

In the period of 2021-2023 and the first 5 months of 2024, Son La province has attracted investment in 11 large-scale agricultural processing projects, of which 07 projects have been granted new investment policies, 04 projects are proposing investment policy approval (expected to reach the target of attracting 09 more factories by 2025).

Specifically, in 2023, the province will inaugurate and put into operation the Doveco Son La Vegetable and Fruit Processing Center. This is a complex of agricultural processing factories, manufactured using modern technology from Italy, Japan and China with a total capacity of 50,000 tons of products/year, with production lines for frozen, canned, dried and other products. Currently, the company is collaborating to build a raw material area of ​​nearly 12,000 hectares of Queen pineapple, passion fruit, sweet corn, soybeans, spinach, etc.
