Recently, 32 teams participating in the 2023 Women's World Cup sent a list of 23 players to the world football federation (FIFA).
The Vietnamese women's team had many difficulties against the tall New Zealand players.
Notably, according to FIFA statistics on the height of the 32 teams participating in the tournament, the Vietnamese women's team ranked 31st, just above Zambia.
Specifically, the average height of the Vietnamese women's team at the tournament in New Zealand and Australia is 1.6057m.
Among them, midfielder Duong Thi Van and Ngan Thi Van Su are the shortest at 1.5m, while the tallest is goalkeeper Dao Thi Kieu Oanh at 1.7m.
The team with the shortest average height at the 2023 World Cup is Zambia at 1.5939m. Even African player Chitundu Avell is only 1.4m tall.
The top 5 lowest teams also include South Africa (1.6113m), Costa Rica (1.6439m) and Japan (1.647m).
In the group of the Vietnamese women's team, the Netherlands has the best average height with 1.7061m (ranked 4th), the US with 1.6939m (ranked 6th), and Portugal with 1.6804m (ranked 17th).
Meanwhile, the five teams with the best average height are Denmark (1.7348m), Germany (1.72m), Sweden (1.7087m), Netherlands (1.7061m) and Norway (1.7026m).
Regarding the average age of the players, coach Mai Duc Chung's students ranked 8th with 27.52 years old, equal to South Africa.
Vu Thi Hoa is the youngest player of the Vietnamese women's team (born in 2003) and the oldest is Tran Thi Thuy Trang (born in 1988).
Number one in this statistic is South Korea (29.35 years old), while the youngest team is Haiti (22.87 years old).
According to the schedule, at the 2023 World Cup, the Vietnamese team will face the US (July 22), Portugal (July 27) and the Netherlands (August 1) in the group stage.
