Reporting distorted news about the disorder in Dak Lak, one person was fined 5.5 million VND

(QNO) - On June 13, 2023, the Department of Internal Political Security - Quang Nam Provincial Police, has just issued a decision to administratively sanction the act of "providing fake information, false information, distorting, slandering, insulting the reputation of organizations, honor and dignity of individuals".

Accordingly, at 11:00 a.m. on June 11, 2023, Mr. TR (born in 1985, residing in Hoi An City) after watching the news on the "Government Information" page, posted an article with the content "arresting a group of subjects using guns to attack the commune police headquarters in Dak Lak".

Mr. TR used his personal Facebook to share the above article with comments that were untrue, distorted, slanderous, and insulting to the reputation of the organization in a public sharing status.

During the process, the subject admitted his wrongdoing.

The Internal Political Security Department of Quang Nam Provincial Police has issued a decision to sanction administrative violations in the field of information technology for the act of "providing and sharing fake information, false information, distorting, slandering, and insulting the reputation of agencies and organizations" as prescribed in Point a, Clause 1, Article 101, Decree 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 of the Government regulating sanctions for administrative violations in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions. Mr. TR was fined 5.5 million VND for this act.
