Accordingly, on April 28, the People's Committee of Bo Trach district (Quang Binh) organized the 7th traditional boat racing festival on Son river, attracting 200 athletes of 7 male rowing boats from communes and towns with rivers such as Phong Nha, Hung Trach, Lien Trach, and coastal people such as Thanh Trach, Hai Phu, Duc Trach, Nhan Trach and 3 female racing boats from Phong Nha town, Hung Trach and Lien Trach communes...

The boat teams compete on a 6km race track for men's boats and 4km for women's boats; starting from the central boat dock to Xuan Son bridge, passing the Chay river junction and returning.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Hong, Vice Chairman of Bo Trach District People's Committee shared: For the people of Bo Trach District in general and the people living along the rivers flowing through the district or the fishermen in coastal areas, the boat racing festival is one of the festivals that people respond to the most. Up to this point, the traditional boat racing festival on Son River has become the festival that attracts the most people.

Besides this festival, the unique cultural, artistic and sports activities taking place during the festival are a place to honor the spirit of solidarity, cohesion and creativity of Bo Trach people in labor and production, and also demonstrate the traditional cultural beauty of the people here.

Despite the hot and harsh weather, locals and tourists coming to Phong Nha were very excited to cheer for the traditional boat racing teams.
