On the afternoon of May 21, the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negativity of Ho Chi Minh City (hereinafter referred to as the Steering Committee) held its 7th meeting. Comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee, chaired the meeting.
Also attending were Deputy Heads of the Steering Committee: Nguyen Ho Hai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Le Hong Nam, Member of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department; Ngo Minh Chau, Head of the Internal Affairs Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee...
Concluding the meeting, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen highly appreciated and welcomed the sense of responsibility, active and effective activities, and proactive coordination of the members of the Steering Committee and the Standing Office of the Steering Committee in the past time.
According to the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, members of the Steering Committee and the Standing Office of the Steering Committee have basically completed inspection and supervision delegations according to the Steering Committee's program of inspection and supervision of anti-corruption and negativity work in 2023.
The Steering Committee has regularly and focused on performing the tasks of inspecting, supervising, monitoring, and urging the work of preventing and combating corruption and negativity at Party committees, Party organizations, fields, localities, and topics assigned for management and responsibility; issued conclusions for 18 units based on the inspection results.
Through inspection and supervision, the members of the Steering Committee assessed the advantages and limitations and promptly requested, reminded, and guided to overcome the limitations in the work of preventing corruption and negativity at agencies and units.
The Steering Committee has also included in the 2024 inspection and supervision program contents related to the management and use of public houses and land; the review of legal documents with contradictory, overlapping, loopholes, inadequacies or obstacles. In particular, it is recommended to consider amending regulations on the use of public assets at public service units for business purposes, leasing, joint ventures and associations in accordance with reality.
Thereby, contributing to the work of preventing corruption and negativity in the city has many clear changes, increasingly going into depth, substance and achieving many specific results; solutions to prevent corruption and negativity have been strongly and synchronously deployed.
In the first quarter of 2024, the Steering Committee regularly monitored and directed 12 cases and 14 incidents. Of these, 6 cases and incidents were monitored and directed by the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negativity; provided policies and guidelines for handling a number of cases and incidents under the monitoring and direction of the Steering Committee, ensuring the requirements and progress set forth, and the results were agreed upon and supported by public opinion.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen requested that in the coming time, the Steering Committee continue to lead, direct, thoroughly and seriously implement the 2024 anti-corruption and negativity program and the 2024 inspection and supervision program of the Steering Committee.
At the same time, continue to direct the prosecution agencies and relevant agencies to review, monitor, and urge the progress of resolving specific cases and incidents of corruption and negativity under monitoring and direction.
In addition, focus on removing difficulties and obstacles, speeding up the investigation and handling of cases, especially those under the monitoring and direction of the Central Steering Committee.
Along with that, implementing in practice the Project "Some solutions and lessons learned to prevent acts of corruption, negativity, and waste in the political system and state-owned enterprises".
Comrade Nguyen Van Nen also requested to complete the Project "Applying and implementing Conclusion 14-KL/TW of the Politburo on the policy of encouraging and protecting dynamic and creative cadres for the common good in preventing and stopping corrupt and negative acts and protecting cadres who dare to think and act for the common good when there are risks in performing official duties".
At the meeting, the Steering Committee also agreed to put 1 case under monitoring and direction; remove 3 cases from monitoring and direction.
