Plans to deploy many activities to support mine victims in Thua Thien Hue

On the afternoon of July 19, Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Khoa - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association for Support in Overcoming Consequences of Bombs and Mines and his delegation had a working session with leaders of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province.

Vietnam Association for Mine Action works with Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Permanent Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee, said that in recent times, the province has always paid attention to mine clearance and supported people to overcome the consequences of mines. In particular, Thua Thien Hue has cooperated with domestic and foreign organizations to implement the project of the National Mine Action Center (VNMAC), implementing the mine clearance project in A Luoi district. Thereby, the implementation of the mine clearance project has made an important contribution to solving the problem of mines left over from the war, helping to develop the socio-economy in the province.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province emphasized the need to build core teams in localities to act as focal points for implementing activities related to mine clearance and support in overcoming the consequences of mines.

Mr. Binh suggested that relevant departments and branches coordinate with the Vietnam Association for Support in Overcoming the Consequences of Bombs and Mines to deploy activities in the coming time in A Luoi district, and at the same time coordinate to promote propaganda on bomb and mine safety and support the overcoming of bomb and mine consequences in the province.

Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Khoa said that in order to share the difficulties of families whose relatives were affected by bombs, mines and explosives of war, and at the same time create conditions to improve life and increase income for people, the Association has organized many activities to support livelihoods, give breeding animals to bomb and mine victims; and support bicycles for students in difficult circumstances.

After reviewing, the Vietnam Association for Mine Action selected A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue province to organize activities to provide livelihood support and bicycles. The activities are expected to be held in mid-August 2023.

Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Khoa hopes that in the coming time, the departments and specialized agencies of Thua Thien Hue province will pay attention to propaganda work about victims of bomb and mine accidents in many diverse and rich forms; prepare well the conditions so that in the coming time, the delegation will come to support victims of bomb and mine accidents in A Luoi district to ensure the plan is followed and effective.
