Delegates of the two Dialogue Delegations discussed and exchanged opinions and assessments on the role of multilateralism, the increasing contribution of multilateral institutions in promoting peace and development, cooperation in resolving disputes and conflicts in the region and globally, cooperation in responding to climate change, especially in the context of natural disasters such as super typhoon Yagi that have caused extremely heavy damage; the importance and directions and measures to promote relations between the two Parties, the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership, in the context of the current complicated and unstable world situation.

During the discussions and meetings, SPD Central Committee member, State President of Rheiland-Pfalz, Alexander Schweitzer; Chairman of the SPD Parliamentary Group in the Federal Parliament, Rolf Mützenich; Head of the Defense Committee of the Federal House of Representatives, Christoph Schmid; President of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), Martin Schulz; Director General of the Asia-Pacific Department of the German Foreign Ministry, Martin Thummel, and delegates of the SPD delegation at the Dialogue expressed their deep condolences to the leaders and people of Vietnam for the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi.

The two sides highly appreciated the 9th Dialogue between the two Parties, affirming that this is an important event, creating new vitality and breath, contributing to deepening the relationship between the two Parties and the Strategic Partnership between the two countries. The two sides agreed to continue the Party Dialogue mechanism, enhance the exchange of theoretical and practical issues, cooperate in sustainable and inclusive development, respond to climate change, develop high-tech industry, ecological agriculture, develop high-quality human resources, promote digital transformation and equitable energy transition, as well as local cooperation, people-to-people exchange, and youth exchange. You emphasized the similarities in the views and positions of the two Parties and two countries, support for the rule of international law and the United Nations Charter, as well as cooperation at different levels in regional and international forums.

At the meetings, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang thanked the German Government and the SPD for their concern and sympathy for the huge losses of lives and property of some localities and people of Vietnam caused by natural disasters; and requested that agencies of the two Parties and two countries continue to implement measures to enhance substantive cooperation between advisory and policy-making agencies, especially in practical areas for the benefit of the people such as sustainable development, climate change response, high-quality labor cooperation, and cooperation mechanisms between localities.

The two sides agreed to organize the 10th regular Dialogue between the two Parties in Hanoi, with the participation of leaders, policy makers, scholars, young generations of party members of the two sides and localities of the two countries in 2025, as a practical activity to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the FES Institute's official operation in Vietnam and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations.

At the working session with the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang and Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany, Vu Quang Minh, chaired the launching ceremony of a donation drive to support compatriots in the country affected by Typhoon Yagi among the staff of the representative agency and the Vietnamese community in Germany.
