Colonel Ngo Minh Thuan, General Director of Tan Cang Saigon Corporation, said: To serve production activities during the 2024 Lunar New Year, at Tan Cang Cat Lai Port, each production shift has more than 1,100 workers directly managing, operating and serving. During the first week of the Lunar New Year, the port welcomed 75 cargo ships, with a throughput of 72,000 TEUs, equivalent to more than 1 million tons of goods (an increase of 9% compared to the same period in 2023).
The first container passed through Tan Cang Cat Lai Port in the year of the Dragon 2024
On the night of the order to load goods, the port received 7 container ships, the shipment was loaded onto the Uni Perfect ship of Ever Green shipping line with a capacity of 19,308 tons, carrying nearly 1,618 teu, which was a shipment of electronic components - a key product last year that contributed to Ho Chi Minh City's export turnover reaching more than 42 billion USD. The ship followed the route from Cat Lai Port (Vietnam) - Kaohsiung (Taiwan) - Osaka, Kobe, Hakata (Japan) - Shang Hai (China) - Hong Kong - Cat Lai. The total loading and unloading output on the night of the order to load goods at the beginning of the year of the Dragon at Tan Cang Cat Lai port was about 7,500 teus (equivalent to 105,000 tons of cargo), which shows the prosperity of the Vietnamese economy in 2024.
Speaking at the program to launch the first order of the year of the Dragon 2024, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai congratulated the outstanding achievements of Tan Cang Saigon Corporation, which has contributed to the development of the city and the whole country. The city's leaders wished Tan Cang Saigon to successfully complete its tasks in 2024, to achieve achievements in commemorating 35 years of construction and development, worthy of the tradition of the unit being twice awarded the title of Hero of Labor, and to achieve the goal of reaching the world and connecting globally.
At the ceremony to announce the first batch of goods in the year of the Dragon, Tan Cang Saigon Corporation donated nearly 3 billion VND of the money collected at Tan Cang Cat Lai port overnight to support the fund for the poor of Ho Chi Minh City and other localities of the city.
