Vietnam national team "won big"

The Vietnamese national team competing in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2024 consisted of 4 students competing and all won medals, including: 2 Gold medals, 1 Silver medal, 1 Bronze medal.

All four students who won medals for the Vietnamese team are students at the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Specifically, the two students who won Gold Medals were Pham Cong Minh, a 12th grader, and Hoang Xuan Bach, a 11th grader; Nguyen Huu Tuan, a 10th grader, won a Silver Medal, and Pham Ngoc Trung, a 12th grader, won a Bronze Medal.

With 100% of the contestants winning medals, the Vietnam National IOI Team is in the group of 4 countries and territories with the highest results according to the Medal table, after the United States, Japan and Poland (according to the results announced on the website of the IOI 2024 Organizing Committee, not ranking the Russian and Israeli IOI teams).

In 2023, the Vietnam IOI Team is in the group of 9 countries with the highest results in the Medal table with 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal.

According to the regulations of the IOI Council 2024, the International Olympiad in Informatics has two official competition days. On each competition day, candidates will take a 5-hour computer programming test and solve 3 problems with rich content. The results will be automatically graded online by the system and the live scoreboard will be announced throughout the two competition days (online).

This year's exam is highly difficult, requiring candidates to be able to apply knowledge flexibly and be creative. With the strong development of the digital technology industry, countries are increasingly investing heavily in their teams and the competition between countries is getting higher in this exam.

The IOI 2024 Organizing Committee will hold the Closing and Award Ceremony today (September 6, 2024), starting at 7:00 p.m. (Egypt time).
