With two goals in the first half, the home team New Zealand won 2-0 against the Vietnamese women's team in a friendly match ahead of the 2023 Women's World Cup.

After the opening whistle, the New Zealand players took the initiative to increase the speed of the match and play offensively. Coach Mai Duc Chung let the Vietnamese women's team play defensive counter-attacks with a not-too-low formation.
New Zealand continuously used attacks on both wings, however they could not get past goalkeeper Kim Thanh in the first minutes.
The surprise broke out in the 17th minute, from a not-so-dangerous shot by Bott, Phuong Thao missed the ball, surprising Kim Thanh and not having time to block, New Zealand scored.
After the goal, the home team continued to dominate the game. Especially in the end of the first half, New Zealand players continuously penetrated the defense of the Vietnamese team.
In the 44th minute, his teammates broke through fiercely and passed the ball smoothly for Hand to double the gap.
With two goals in the first half, New Zealand played quite comfortably in the second half, this team no longer had pressure to score. The Vietnamese women's team played better in the second half, but only did not concede more. In attack, the Vietnamese team never once made it difficult for the home team.
