On the afternoon of September 18, Coach Mai Duc Chung finalized the list of 22 players who will join the Vietnamese women's team at the 19th ASIAD.
Chuong Thi Kieu is not with the Vietnamese women's team attending the 19th ASIAD.
Notably, this list does not include the names of center back Chuong Thi Kieu and striker Huynh Nhu.
Accordingly, Chuong Thi Kieu has not yet recovered from her injury. Meanwhile, Huynh Nhu has to stay in Portugal to play for Lank FC.
At the 2023 World Cup, coach Mai Duc Chung sent Chuong Thi Kieu onto the field for a short time, but she still did not have the best playing feeling.
The absence of both Kieu and Nhu will be a huge loss for the Vietnamese women's team at the 19th ASIAD.
Besides the two pillars mentioned above, striker Vu Thi Hoa and defender Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh are also not on the list of Vietnamese women's team attending ASIAD 19.
As for Vu Thi Hoa, she sprained her ankle in a friendly match with a team from Maritime University and needs at least two weeks to recover.
To strengthen the attack, coach Mai Duc Chung called up striker Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh was removed from the list because she did not meet the requirements set by the coaching board.
Other pillars of the Vietnamese women's team such as Kim Thanh, Hoang Thi Loan, Diem My, Thai Thi Thao, Duong Thi Van, Thanh Nha, Tuyet Dung, Bich Thuy and Hai Yen were all present.
According to plan, at 11:45 on September 19, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will leave for China to attend the 19th ASIAD.
At this year's tournament, the Vietnamese women's team is in the same group with Japan, Nepal and Bangladesh.
On September 22, the Vietnamese women's team will play their opening match against Nepal, 3 days later they will face Bangladesh and face Japan on September 28.
