On the afternoon of February 6, Vinh Phuc Provincial Police announced that in 2003, Ms. Do Thi Phuong was prosecuted for the crime of Abuse of trust to appropriate property. Immediately after that, Phuong fled the area and was wanted by Vinh Tuong District Police.
Through professional measures during the peak period of suppressing crimes to protect the Lunar New Year 2024, the police discovered Do Thi Phuong appearing in Hanoi, so they propagandized Phuong's relatives to persuade the subject to surrender.
With the analysis and encouragement of the police force, on January 30, Phuong went to the headquarters of the Vinh Tuong District Police Department to surrender and confess all his crimes.
Phuong confessed that he had fled to the southern provinces, wandering everywhere looking for hourly work, only daring to sleep on sidewalks and street corners to avoid being searched by the police.
In early 2024, Phuong missed his hometown and thought that it had been a long time since the police were looking for him, so he returned to Hanoi. Unexpectedly, just a few days later, he received information from his relatives informing him that Vinh Tuong District Police had known about the incident and were urging him to surrender to receive leniency from the law.
"Hearing the news of their mother's return, Phuong's children were extremely emotional," Vinh Phuc Province Police informed. Twenty years ago, when their mother fled, the children were still young, but now they are all grown up.
Do Thi Phuong's children have paid off all the money their mother had borrowed in the past. On February 2, the Vinh Tuong District Police Department completed the procedures to release Phuong on bail so she could return home to reunite with her family this Tet holiday.
