Businesses still massively recruit workers with salaries over 20 million VND/month

The survey shows that in 2023, businesses in Ho Chi Minh City need to recruit 67,000 jobs with salaries from 15-20 million VND/month, and 45,000 jobs with salaries over 20 million VND/month.

The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Human Resources Forecasting and Labor Market Information (Falmi) has reported on the labor market in 2023 and forecasted human resource demand in 2024 in the city.

According to the report, in 2023, Falmi surveyed more than 137,000 job seekers and nearly 75,000 businesses looking to recruit nearly 305,000 jobs. The survey results of job search demand by salary level showed that workers mainly looked for jobs with a salary of over 20 million VND/month, accounting for 42.54%. Meanwhile, the salary of 5-10 million VND/month was only 12.04%. The salary of 10-15 million VND/month was 25.37%. The salary of 15-20 million VND/month accounted for 19.32%. The salary of under 5 million VND/month accounted for only 0.73%.

Compared to 2022, the demand for jobs with a salary of 15 million VND/month or more has increased. Specifically, the rate of people looking for jobs with a salary of over 20 million VND/month increased by 3.57% (in 2022 it was 38.97%). The rate of people looking for jobs with a salary of 15-20 million VND/month increased by 1.54% (in 2022 it was 17.78%). On the contrary, the number of people looking for jobs with a salary of less than 15 million VND decreased significantly. Specifically, the rate of people looking for jobs with a salary of 10-15 million VND/month decreased by 0.81% (in 2022 it was 26.18%). The rate of people looking for jobs with a salary of 5-10 million VND/month decreased by 3.81% (in 2022 it was 15.85%). The rate of people looking for jobs with a salary of less than 5 million VND/month also decreased by 0.47% (in 2022 it was 1.2%).

However, the recruitment side is very positive. Although the economic situation in 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City has many difficulties, businesses still have a need to recruit many talented employees with high salaries. This helps reduce the gap between supply and demand in terms of salary. Specifically, the demand for jobs with a salary of 15 million VND or more has increased, but only slightly. Meanwhile, the demand for recruiting positions with a salary of 15 million VND or more has increased very strongly.

At the salary level of 15-20 million VND/month, businesses need nearly 67,000 jobs, accounting for 21.91% of total human resource demand, an increase of 15.74% compared to last year (in 2022 it was 6.17%). This increase has reversed the supply and demand situation for human resources at the salary level of 15-20 million VND/month compared to 2022, meaning that the recruitment demand in this salary range is higher than the demand for jobs. However, the difference is not large, showing that human resource supply and demand have met (supply is 21.91%; demand is 19.32%). At a salary level of over VND 20 million/month, businesses need more than 45,000 jobs, accounting for 14.86% of total human resource demand, an increase of 6.79% compared to 2022 (in 2022 it was 8.07%), meaning that the rate of jobs with high salaries of over VND 20 million/month increased nearly 2 times compared to last year. This increase helps to partially reduce the gap between supply and demand of human resources at salaries in the salary range of over VND 20 million/month. In 2023, the gap between supply and demand was 14.86% - 42.54%, a difference of 27.68%. Meanwhile, in 2022, the gap between supply and demand was 8.07% - 38.97%, a difference of 30.9%.
