Supporting businesses to penetrate the 'billion-people market'
Over the years, China has always been Vietnam's main agricultural exporter, with a market size of up to 1.4 billion people. In terms of market share, China is Vietnam's largest trading partner. In the first 8 months of 2023, agricultural exports to China reached about 7.3 billion USD, an increase of 9.8% over the same period in 2022.
In 2023, China will build high-tech barriers, requiring stricter quality for each type of goods. In particular, China will strictly manage the management of codes for growing areas and packaging facilities.
Ms. Phan Thi Thu Cuc - Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Industry and Trade of Khanh Hoa province - said that the enterprises of the province participating this time are export enterprises with prestigious, quality products and local characteristics. In the past, the province's export turnover to the Chinese market was still modest due to many barriers.
At this CAEXPO, Khanh Hoa Province Department of Industry and Trade participated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade delegation chaired by Minister Nguyen Hong Dien.
“The unit is responsible for supporting businesses to promote and expand markets abroad and in Asian countries in the region. At the same time, it exploits and approaches potential customers to act as import hubs in foreign markets when granted official export codes,” said Ms. Cuc.

In order for Vietnamese goods to penetrate deeper into the global supply chain, the Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Industry and Trade of Khanh Hoa province suggested: Enterprises need to improve production capacity, comply with strict standards of foreign markets, ensure food safety criteria and disease prevention to meet export requirements.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 20th China-ASEAN Expo, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized: ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, always acknowledge China's important contributions to promoting cooperation and common prosperity in the region. Vietnam supports cooperation and assistance in the spirit of openness, sincerity, trust, equality, and connecting the Belt and Road for the common prosperity of peoples in the region and the world. Vietnam wishes to continue working with China and ASEAN countries to promptly complete negotiations to upgrade version 3.0 of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement; upgrade road and railway infrastructure connectivity; and pilot the expansion of the smart border gate model to better meet the investment, business, trade, culture and tourism needs of the business community and people of each country.
