The National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee's monitoring delegation conducted a thematic survey on territorial borders in Thanh Chuong district.

The delegation was led by Comrade Vu Hai Ha - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee.

Also participating in the Supervisory Delegation were comrades: Tran Van Hang - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly; Vice Chairmen of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly: Don Tuan Phong, Le Anh Tuan.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Khanh Thuc - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs; leaders of departments, branches, and Thanh Chuong district.

The National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee's monitoring delegation inspected the implementation of international treaties on land borders between Vietnam and Laos at Thanh Thuy Border Gate, Thanh Chuong District.

Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station manages and protects the 13.748 km long border including 6 national border markers and 2 border posts, adjacent to Xay Cham Phon district, Laos. The border area is Thanh Thuy commune, Thanh Chuong district with 1 national border gate Thanh Thuy - Nam On.

After the two legal documents on the Vietnam - Laos border came into effect, the Party Committee and Command of Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station thoroughly grasped and seriously implemented them; focused on educating, disseminating and propagating in the unit, cadres and people of the two districts, two communes and twin villages on both sides of the border.

Implementing the contents of the Agreement, Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station has regularly coordinated closely with Lao border protection forces in managing and protecting territorial sovereignty on the border section under its responsibility; regularly and systematically maintained coordination, information exchange, and situations related to the management and protection of the national border.

The unit has thoroughly grasped, implemented and strictly maintained the contents stipulated in the Agreement on management and control at border gates. The work of controlling entry and exit has been seriously and strictly implemented; ensuring border circulation activities, complying with the agreements signed between the governments of Vietnam and Laos and the provisions of the law on entry and exit.

From September 2017 to present, 5,154 people have been processed for entry and exit at the border gate; 2 cases/2 subjects were detected and handled for illegal entry and exit, with an administrative fine of 8 million VND.

The station has also closely coordinated with local authorities and Lao authorities in maintaining and protecting security, order and social safety in the border area. Resolve and handle incidents related to both sides of the border, ensuring strict compliance with the provisions of the Agreement and the laws of each side.

As a result of the fight against all kinds of crimes and law violations from September 2017 to present, the Station has presided over and coordinated the detection and arrest of 33 cases/41 subjects, with evidence: 79 heroin cakes, 262.5 kg of crystal meth, 9 kg of Ketamine, 1,787,256 pink pills, 1,000 ecstasy pills, 70 kg of firecrackers, 2 guns, 17 bullets, 10,000 USD and many other related evidences.

Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station has effectively implemented foreign affairs and international cooperation projects and programs on building and protecting the national border. Actively communicating, exchanging, communicating, and coordinating to grasp the situation on the border; paying attention to supporting some materials for daily life and equipment for the Lao border guard force, especially during the complicated time of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Advise the locality to effectively implement the movement of twinning residential clusters (Ban - Ban) on both sides of the border; the twinning program between Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station and Border Guard Company 252/Laos. Thereby, to strengthen the solidarity and friendship between Thanh Chuong district and Xay Cham Phon district of Laos, which share a common border, contributing to firmly protecting the territorial sovereignty and national border security.

At the meeting, Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station reported on the shortcomings and inadequacies in the implementation of international treaties on land borders between Vietnam and Laos; at the same time, raised proposals and recommendations to remove practical difficulties.

On this occasion, the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee's Supervisory Delegation presented 40 gifts to 40 poor households in Thanh Thuy commune, Thanh Chuong district.

On the same afternoon, the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee's Supervisory Delegation visited and offered flowers and incense at Truong Bon National Historical Site. The delegation respectfully bowed before the souls of 1,240 heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the legendary Truong Bon route; typically the heroic sacrifice of 13 youth volunteers of Company 317 on October 31, 1968.

Truong Bon, a sacred land, a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism, where the blood of comrades and compatriots was shed in the long march to liberate the nation. A place marked by the fiery footsteps of hundreds of thousands of young men who fought their way across Truong Son to save the country. Young men and women of 18 and 20 years old entered the war of bullets and bullets, entering danger with all their optimism, desire to live and responsibility for the country.
