On the afternoon of October 24, the Supervisory Delegation of the Provincial People's Council Standing Committee, led by Mr. Le Van Anh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, had a working session with the Provincial Police and the Department of Transport on compliance with legal regulations in ensuring inland waterway traffic safety and the management, inspection and registration of waterway vehicles.

In recent times, the Provincial Police have directed the implementation of legal documents and guidance documents of the Central and the province on ensuring inland waterway traffic safety; promoted propaganda, dissemination and legal education in many forms; effectively implemented the Prime Minister's project on solutions to ensure order and safety of inland waterway traffic in the new situation.
From January 1, 2021 to present, the provincial police force has organized 3,200 patrols and controls, handled 7,739 violations of inland waterway traffic safety, fined over 11 billion VND; handled 83 violations related to vehicle registration and inspection, fined over 400 million VND; recommended the Department of Transport and related units to install and repair 24 damaged warning signs and 6 buoys at dangerous locations.
The Department of Transport has closely followed the program, plan, and instructions to focus on directing relevant agencies and units to implement the work of ensuring inland waterway traffic safety; advising on the implementation of planning and plans for inland waterway infrastructure development; managing, maintaining, protecting waterways, and clearing to ensure safety.

The vehicles put into operation were registered and registered in accordance with regulations, with 5,092 vehicles inspected and granted certificates of technical safety and environmental protection, and 1,335 inland waterway vehicles registered.
At the meeting, members of the Supervisory Delegation requested the units to clarify a number of issues such as: Number of unregistered and uninspected ships; some inland waterway ports and waterways not in accordance with the planning; procedures for announcing ports and wharves operating according to the provisions of law, potential black spots, etc.
Speaking at the meeting, comrade Le Van Anh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, acknowledged the efforts of the units in ensuring safety on inland waterways.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council emphasized that although there have been no serious incidents in the province in the past, ensuring safety on inland waterways is an important task. He requested to urgently complete the report according to the outline based on the opinions of the delegation members, propose solutions to remove the problem of dredging the route, and promote and improve the work of ensuring traffic order and safety.
The delegation will make recommendations to the Provincial People's Committee on waterway management and coordination in inspection, control, and handling of vehicles violating traffic on inland waterways with localities bordering Quang Ninh, as well as proposals from units.
