(Fatherland) - On the morning of December 11, delegates attending the international conference on rural tourism visited and experienced community tourism activities at Tra Que Vegetable Village - the best tourist village in 2024.


Tra Que Vegetable Village (Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province) has just been honored by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) as the Best Tourist Village in 2024. On the afternoon of December 10, at the international conference on rural tourism, UN Tourism awarded the certificate of "Best Tourist Village in 2024" to Tra Que Vegetable Village under the witness of Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Le Thanh Long, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee and delegates, domestic and international media agencies.

On the morning of December 11, the delegation attending the international conference on rural tourism visited and experienced community tourism activities at Tra Que Vegetable Village. Despite the unfavorable weather and rain, the sightseeing and experience activities still took place.

Here, Ms. Zoritsa Urosevic, Deputy Secretary General of UN Tourism, together with representatives of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and local authorities, performed the ribbon-pulling ceremony to honor Tra Que Vegetable Village as the Best Tourist Village of 2024.

During the tour, delegates were immersed in the peaceful countryside, with the fragrant scent of herbs and spices; experienced the rural market and community activities of the people.

Along with that, delegates visited ancient historical sites; learned about vegetable village tourism information; participated in folk games; experienced the farming activities of Tra Que farmers and enjoyed local cuisine at households in the village.

Ms. Zoritsa Urosevic, Deputy Secretary-General of UN Tourism, and delegates experienced cakes in the space at Tra Que Vegetable Village.

Tra Que Vegetable Village is a traditional craft village with a history dating back to the 17th century, famous for its traditional and unique vegetable growing methods. The village currently has 202 households specializing in vegetable growing, with 18 hectares, including 55 types of vegetables.

In addition to preserving traditional farming methods in the vegetable growing process, people have accumulated experience, adjusted methods and production methods to have vegetable products that ensure quality, safety for users, and save production time. Folk knowledge is accumulated over time, with the resonance of the community to have the most common production methods, representing the whole community.

In April 2022, Tra Que vegetable growing was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage, belonging to the category of folk knowledge and traditional handicrafts.

According to Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee Nguyen Van Son, this is a great opportunity to introduce the peaceful and unique rural image of Hoi An. Thereby, it promises to open up positive signals in image building, destination promotion communication, rural tourism development, sustainable community tourism in Hoi An, Quang Nam in the coming time.

It is known that in addition to visiting Tra Que Vegetable Village, the delegates will also visit Thanh Ha Pottery Village and Hoi An Ancient Town. Many experiential activities with unique characteristics of each destination such as: Introduction to the pottery village, visiting Thanh Ha Terracotta Park, experiencing pottery making, learning about historical and cultural relics in Hoi An Ancient Town, enjoying folk art programs and street performances, etc. have been carefully arranged and planned by the authorities and people of Hoi An to create an impression of Hoi An land with its natural beauty, indigenous culture, the image of kind people, creativity and sustainable tourism activities to international delegates.
