Delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam visits and works in Korea

Korean leaders affirmed that they value relations with Vietnam, considering Vietnam a top important partner.

From October 11-15, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, led a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam to visit and work in Korea.

During the visit, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang and the delegation met and worked with Chairman of the ruling National Power Party Kim Gi Hyeon, Chief of the Presidential Office Kim Dae Ki, Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin; visited Samsung Group and attended the opening ceremony of the "Global Business Learning Cooperation Program - Samsung for Vietnamese Leaders at VOSP" ; exchanged opinions with research and teaching institutions such as Seoul National University, Korea Diplomatic Academy, National Institute for Development of Civil Servants; received the former Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, Vice Chairman of the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, Director of the Korea Creative Content Agency.

During the discussions, both sides expressed their delight at the positive development of Vietnam-Korea relations, especially after the two sides signed the Joint Statement on upgrading relations and the related Action Program. Bilateral cooperation has continuously developed, becoming increasingly in-depth, effective and substantive.

The two leaders agreed to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation through Party, Government and National Assembly channels, especially in the fields of politics - diplomacy, economy, national defense - security, science - technology, culture, education and health; enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges, local cooperation, pay attention to and create conditions for people of both countries in each country; and coordinate on international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized that Vietnam persistently pursues a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations, being a friend, a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community. The Party and State of Vietnam consistently attach importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership with the Republic of Korea.

Regarding bilateral relations, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang suggested that the two sides continue to promote substantive and effective cooperation within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, emphasizing that the two sides have favorable opportunities to jointly create a major shift in extensive and comprehensive cooperation, especially in the fields of science and technology, cooperation in developing Vietnam's semiconductor industry, digital transformation, green transformation, technology transfer; and coordinate in building Korean Research and Development (R&D) Centers in Vietnam.

Regarding cooperation on the Party channel, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized that the Communist Party of Vietnam attaches importance to developing relations with Korean political parties, including the ruling People's Power Party; and suggested that the two sides regularly maintain exchanges, contacts, and communications between the two parties, enriching the content of the bilateral relationship.

Korean leaders affirmed their importance to relations with Vietnam, Vietnam's position and role in the region, and considered Vietnam a leading important partner of Korea.

Chairman of the ruling Korean People's Power Party Kim Gi Hyeon believes that the visit of Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang and his delegation will further strengthen the relationship between the two parties, expressing his wish to further tighten the relationship between the two ruling parties in the two countries; coordinate more closely in the context of the Indo-Pacific region facing many challenges, support Korean enterprises to invest and expand business in Vietnam, especially the two sides strengthen cooperation in the field of science and technology, promote trade development in a balanced direction.

Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Korea Kim Dae Ki expressed his hope that the relationship between the two countries will continue to develop strongly and effectively in the next 30 years and beyond; affirmed that the Republic of Korea will continue to closely coordinate with Vietnam at regional and international forums, for peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the world.

Foreign Minister Park Jin said that the two countries are good friends, good partners, and have high trust, and that the Korean economy cannot be without Vietnam and vice versa; he suggested that the two sides strengthen strategic cooperation in line with the new cooperation framework, promote cooperation in developing the semiconductor industry, digital transformation, green transformation, science and technology, responding to climate change, training strategic cadres and high-quality human resources.

The two sides affirmed their stance on resolving territorial disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, ensuring security, safety, and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea.

On October 14, the delegation visited and worked with officials of the Vietnamese Embassy and had an exchange with the Vietnamese community in Korea.
