From June 29 to July 2, a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by comrade Le Hong Quang, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, visited and worked in Brazil and attended the 26th Sao Paulo Forum with the theme "Regional integration to promote autonomy of Latin America and the Caribbean" held in the capital of Brasilia, Brazil.
The Forum takes place in the context of profound changes in the political situation in Latin America and the Caribbean, with many changes in the balance of power with the emergence of many mass movements demanding change, improving social instability, opposing political parliaments and neoliberal capitalist ideology; democratic and progressive fronts are increasingly rallying to win elections; right-wing and extreme right-wing forces that have lost or are not dominant in the upcoming elections are trying to regain power.
The Sao Paulo Forum attracted the participation of 170 delegates from Forum members, in addition to about 80 international guests and about 300 domestic delegates.
Within the framework of the Forum, delegates focused on discussing and assessing the current crisis of capitalism and the role of progressive leftist governments in Latin America and the Caribbean in this struggle; emphasizing that regional integration is an important goal for regional countries to ensure the affirmation of sovereignty, enhance social welfare, eradicate hunger and reduce poverty, overcome inequality, and build cooperation and solidarity mechanisms to contribute to maintaining peace and resolving conflicts in the region and the world.
The forum also reaffirmed the need for left-wing forces, social movements, the masses, and progressive intellectuals to strengthen solidarity, coordination, and exchange experiences. In addition, thematic conferences also discussed in depth many issues of concern in the region such as the economy, employment, climate change, sustainable environmental management, the struggle against imperialism and colonialism, the war of ideas and media, the Ukraine issue, regional cooperation with China, etc.
Attending the Forum, comrade Le Hong Quang, Head of the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam, delivered a speech at the Plenary Session, expressing gratitude to the communist parties, workers' parties, left-wing parties, and progressive forces for their valuable support, sharing, and assistance in the past struggles for national independence and reunification as well as in the cause of national construction and defense today.
Appreciating the development and contributions of left-wing forces in Latin America in promoting integration, regional connectivity, cooperation, development and peace in the world, comrade Le Hong Quang believes that the discussions within the framework of the Forum will contribute to further promoting integration, strengthening the strength of nations; enhancing peace, cooperation, development, making Latin America a region of peace, solidarity, stability, prosperity and sustainability.
Also at the Forum, comrade Le Hong Quang shared about the socio-economic development situation, achievements of the renovation process in the past 35 years of Vietnam; reaffirmed the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification and the policy of building a comprehensive and modern diplomacy based on promoting the combined strength of three pillars: party diplomacy, state diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy; at the same time emphasized the goal of bringing the country to develop rapidly and sustainably, becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045.
The delegates attending the Forum all highly appreciated the participation of the Delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam, highly appreciated and warmly welcomed the speech of the Head of the Delegation, emphasizing that the support and participation of the Communist Party of Vietnam for the Forum is a great source of encouragement for the left-wing movement in the region and the cause of building socialism in Latin American and Caribbean countries.
During their stay in Brazil, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam had a working session with the President of the ruling Brazilian Workers' Party.
At the meeting, the two sides agreed to promote the relationship between the two parties, thereby contributing to the development of the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries in the coming time. Comrade Le Hong Quang also held many meetings and exchanges with political parties in the region such as: President of the Brazilian Communist Party, Head of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Communist Party of Peru, the Bolivian Socialist Movement (MAS), General Secretary of the Dominican United Left Movement (MIU), General Secretary of the Mexican Labor Party (PT)... to express solidarity and exchange measures to strengthen the friendly relationship and cooperation with political parties in the Latin American and Caribbean region.
