From May 27-30, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by comrade Ngo Le Van, Deputy Head of the Central External Relations Commission, attended the 41st Standing Committee meeting and the 2nd Business Council meeting (IBC-2) of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 41st meeting of the ICAPP Standing Committee focused on discussing major orientations and measures to promote the role of political parties and governments in resolving conflicts by peaceful means, respecting international law; promoting the international influence of ICAPP in regional and international political life, unanimously approving the plan to expand cooperation between ICAPP and regional and international organizations in the coming time, including the plan to sign a Cooperation Agreement with the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) and the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (AIPA), renewing the Cooperation Agreement with UNESCO and the presence of ICAPP in the mechanisms of the United Nations.
The meeting also discussed the direction of expanding the number of representatives of countries in the ICAPP Standing Committee. Accordingly, the ICAPP Standing Committee agreed to increase the number of members of the ICAPP Standing Committee, aiming to increase the depth of cooperation between governments and political parties of countries in the coming time.
Within the framework of the activities held in Thailand this time, ICAPP held the 2nd ICAPP Business Council Meeting (IBC-2) with two topics: “Food Security” and “Tourism Promotion”; emphasizing that these are practical topics for political parties and governments of countries in the period of socio-economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The meeting was attended by nearly 100 delegates from 22 political parties, international organizations and businesses in Asian countries. In two discussion sessions, delegates focused on exchanging views and strategies on how to promote food security and promote the role of tourism in the process of governments giving top priority to growth recovery and sustainable development.
The meeting adopted the Bangkok Declaration on Food and Tourism, affirming the indispensable role of parties in forming cooperation mechanisms and policy consultations between political parties, especially ruling parties that are ICAPP members, thereby promoting cooperation between governments, contributing to strengthening the basic foundation towards a sustainable and comprehensive development future.
Promoting its role as a member of the ICAPP Standing Committee continuously for many terms, the Communist Party of Vietnam has participated and made many positive contributions to the implementation of ICAPP's goals.
On the sidelines of ICAPP activities in Thailand, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam had bilateral meetings and contacts with representatives of parties attending the Conference to discuss measures to promote relations with parties and countries; actively contributing to the process of orienting important focuses of ICAPP in the coming time.
ICAPP is the largest party channel dialogue forum of more than 350 political parties in Asia, established in September 2000 with the aim of promoting exchanges and cooperation among Asian political parties of different ideological tendencies. After 24 years of establishment, ICAPP continues to affirm its role as the largest multilateral mechanism of political parties in the region, making practical contributions to the process of connecting and promoting cooperation among Asian political parties, as well as cooperative relations with political parties in other regions of the world. |
