Delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam paid an official visit to India and Sri Lanka

Vietnam always attaches importance to the position of India and Sri Lanka in its foreign policy and expresses its wish for relations with the two countries to develop more and more strongly.

From November 11-18, a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Comrade Bui Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, visited and worked in India and Sri Lanka.

During their stay in India, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam laid flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Monument, met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of India Doraisamy Raja, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India Marxist Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of the Indian National Congress KC Venugopal, and Minister of State for External Affairs of India Rajkumar Ranjan Singh.

The two sides discussed cooperation between the two Parties and two countries and discussed practical and specific measures to further promote multifaceted cooperation between localities of the two countries in the fields of investment, agriculture, tourism, etc.

During the visit, Comrade Bui Van Nghiem also met with the Chairman of Mumbai City, General Secretary of the Indian Cultural Cooperation and Friendship Association (ISCUF), attended the Vietnam-India Business Connection Conference, and visited the Vietnamese Embassy in India.

During their stay in Sri Lanka, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam laid flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Monument; paid a courtesy call to Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena; met with Sri Lankan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Tharaka Balasuriya; met with former President of Sri Lanka, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Maithripala Sirisena; met and worked with the leadership of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka and several other political parties in Sri Lanka.

Through meetings and working sessions, the Sri Lankan side expressed its appreciation for the visit, highly appreciated the positive development of the traditional Vietnam-Sri Lanka friendship and cooperation in all fields; wished that the two countries would continue to cooperate closely, promote the potential and advantages of each side, and agreed to strengthen effective cooperation between localities of the two countries.

During the meetings, Comrade Bui Van Nghiem affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the position of India and Sri Lanka in Vietnam's foreign policy and expressed his wish that the relationship between Vietnam and the two countries will develop more strongly through all channels of the Party, Government, National Assembly and people-to-people exchange; wished that the relationship between Vietnam, India and Sri Lanka will become increasingly deeper and more substantial, and at the same time cooperate closely with each other in international forums, for the benefit of the people of each country.
