A delegation of outstanding journalists from Ho Chi Minh City presented gifts to support the people of Muong Loi commune, Dien Bien district.

The program of returning to the source and the field trip was attended by more than 90 members, including leaders, reporters, editors, and outstanding experts from the Propaganda Department and press agencies in Ho Chi Minh City. Comrade Nguyen Tan Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, was the head of the delegation.

At the program, the delegation supported the people of Muong Loi commune, Dien Bien district with 40 million VND to give gifts to policy families, multidimensional poor households with difficult circumstances, and poor but studious students. Of which, 3 policy families each received 1 million VND; 7 poor households each received 1 million VND; 60 poor but studious students each received 500 thousand VND.

Comrade Nguyen Tan Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association; Colonel Vu A Khua, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard of Dien Bien province, presented gifts to policy families in Muong Loi.

The delegation also handed over 100 million VND to Muong Loi commune so that the commune can lend 10 poor households without interest for 3 years, to develop the economy.

Visiting Huoi Puoc Border Guard Station, the delegation presented flags and gifts worth 20 million VND to encourage officers and soldiers to overcome difficulties and successfully complete all assigned tasks at the country's border. The total amount of gifts and money presented in the program was worth 160 million VND.

The Return to the Source Program is an annual activity organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Propaganda Department every year. Through the return to the source activities and field trips, the program aims to join hands and contribute to the local Party committees and authorities in the fight against hunger and poverty in the Northwest highlands. At the same time, the program also contributes to fostering revolutionary ideals, patriotism, and national pride for those working in the fields of propaganda, journalism, and publishing in Ho Chi Minh City during the integration period.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Propaganda Department and the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association presented 5,000 national flags to Dien Bien province. Of these, 300 flags were given to border guards and people of Muong Loi commune, Dien Bien district.
