Thousands of travelers have redeemed their miles for a spot on a mystery Scandinavian Airlines flight, with no idea where it's going.
Sweden-based airline Scandinavian Airlines (SAS Airlines) has introduced a mysterious flight called "Destination Unknown". Not everyone can buy a ticket to this special flight except members of EuroBonus - the airline's frequent flyer program.
Instead of paying for the tickets, frequent flyers will have to use 30,000 miles to redeem a ticket. The trip departs from Copenhagen, Denmark, on April 5 and returns on April 8. Travelers are given only clues about the flight, which will last “a few hours” and will have their destination kept secret. All will be revealed mid-way through the trip.

SAS Executive Vice President Paul Verhagen said that travelers will have a mysterious adventure. Through this trip, people can find new friends on an exciting journey.
More than 1,000 passengers redeemed their miles for tickets. The airline is currently not accepting any more passengers. Due to limited seats on the plane, tickets will be allocated randomly to those who have registered. SAS currently operates flights to 125 destinations worldwide.
Offering mystery flights is considered one of the activities of the "surprise travel" movement. This trend has emerged as travelers start to look for new experiences. German airline Lufthansa used to offer a program called "Lufthansa Surprise" where passengers choose their departure point and describe the types of experiences they want to have during their vacation. After paying, the airline would reveal the destination to the customer. These trips cannot be canceled, changed or refunded.
