During a meeting with employees to resolve their benefits, the director of an electric taxi company in Ca Mau stood up, banged on the table, and said loudly, “If you don’t do it, we’ll disband.” The director was later suspended from work.
The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ca Mau province today (January 3) said that it has just issued a quick report on reviewing the feedback of many electric taxi drivers of Bao Gia Ca Mau Joint Stock Company (Nam Thang Ca Mau Electric Taxi, headquartered in Ward 8, Ca Mau City).
Accordingly, on the evening of December 31, 2024, about 60 drivers gathered at Thanh Nien Square to discuss and ask the company to resolve their rights.
On the morning of January 1, the company representative worked with the drivers. However, the meeting did not reach a consensus and led to controversy, because the company asked the drivers to pay 50% of the battery charging fee.
Explaining to Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Mr. Tran Ba Thang - General Director of Bao Gia Ca Mau Joint Stock Company - said that the demand for electric vehicle charging in the locality is very large, leading to a shortage of charging stations during the day.
According to Mr. Thang, due to lack of information and outside instigation, many drivers stopped working. After being explained, the drivers understood the new policy. The company also announced that charging fees were completely waived for drivers.
The company director banged on the table during a meeting with employees.
Regarding the incident, previously, a 37-second clip was circulated on social media, recording a scene of a man in a white shirt explaining to people below about his rights and working conditions.
Meanwhile, the man in the blue shirt sitting in the same row of chairs stood up and banged on the table, saying, " I'm here to speak, if you don't disperse, we'll disperse ." Immediately, everyone stood up and left before the unexpected action of the man mentioned above.
Bao Gia Ca Mau Joint Stock Company later issued a statement admitting that the person who banged on the table during the meeting with employees was Mr. Ho Hoang Anh - Director of the company.
“Mr. Ho Hoang Anh banged on the table and made inappropriate statements. The company's leadership has worked with Mr. Anh and reprimanded him, asking him to learn from his speech and conversations with his subordinates,” the statement said.
Speaking to the press, he said he had been suspended from work by the company's Board of Directors.
After the incident, the company filed a report with the police to investigate and clarify the act of inciting and causing disorder.
Bao Gia Ca Mau Joint Stock Company has 160 employees, of which 154 are drivers. Regarding salary policy, drivers receive 8 million VND if their revenue reaches 28 million VND/month. Many drivers think that the above revenue is high for a small province like Ca Mau.
