Specifically, on September 11, Mr. P. (in Cau Giay District) received a phone call from a person claiming to be a police officer, asking him to install software to create an ID card for his child. After that, the subject sent Mr. P. a link to install a "fake" public service software.

When scanning the QR code to authenticate his face, Mr. P. found that his mobile phone was frozen. When he turned off and restarted the phone, his bank account had lost more than 500 million VND. Realizing that he had been scammed, Mr. P. went to the Trung Hoa Ward Police Station (Cau Giay District) to report the matter.

To avoid fraud, Hanoi City Police recommends that people be vigilant against the above tricks. Absolutely do not install software or applications as requested by strangers calling.

If fake software is installed, people risk having their entire phone taken over, then the bad guys can access their bank accounts and transfer all of the victim's money.

People need to proactively seek information on making ID cards through the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order, the police of the district, commune or ward where they live.

When encountering cases showing signs of fraud, people need to promptly report to the police to prevent and handle them according to the provisions of the law.
