On the morning of June 15, Thai Thuy district organized a drill on disaster prevention, control and search and rescue (PCTT and TKCN) in 2023.

The 2023 Thai Thuy District Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue Drill with the main contents including: mechanism operation drill and field drill. In particular, regarding the mechanism practice drill: The Standing Committee of Thai Thuy District Party Committee consulted to determine policies and measures to lead the implementation of the task of responding to storm No. 1 and handling situations occurring in the area; the District Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue Command Committee held a meeting to adjust the disaster prevention and control and search and rescue plan, deploy storm response and handle situations occurring in the area. Regarding the field drill: practice evacuating people in the aquaculture area at Tan Son fishing port, residential group No. 9, Diem Dien town; practice calling and arranging boats to safe shelters, handling situations of ship fires and searching and rescuing fishermen swept away by water in the Hai Dang lighthouse area, residential group No. 9, Diem Dien town.

In his opening speech, Comrade Lai Van Hoan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the exercise emphasized: This is an event to further raise awareness of all levels, sectors and people in the province, clearly seeing the importance of PCTT and TKCN work in the context of climate change as it is today. He requested the Thai Thuy district exercise organizing committee to focus on the highest level of leadership and direction in commanding and operating the forces participating in the exercise, ensuring that the exercise takes place in accordance with the determined content and time; directing the timely handling of situations arising during the exercise.

During the live-fire exercise, more than 500 officers, soldiers, border guards, police, militia forces of communes, towns and people were mobilized; in terms of means, 16 cars, 22 fishing boats, 10 military ships and boats, 1 ambulance were mobilized, fully prepared with life jackets, life buoys, and generators. During the exercise, the forces coordinated closely, followed the correct principles and procedures; ensured methods, style and urgency in handling situations; and especially ensured absolute safety for people and vehicles during the exercise.

The exercise has contributed to raising awareness of the importance of disaster prevention and control and search and rescue work of all levels, sectors, localities and people; improving capacity and responsibility in directing, commanding, coordinating and handling situations in disaster prevention and control and search and rescue that may occur in the area to minimize damage to people and property of units and people.
Thai Thuy district leaders awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in organizing the drill.
At the end of the drill, the organizing committee summarized, drew lessons, and rewarded 27 collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in organizing the district's PCTT and TKCN drills in 2023.
