With the goal of “leaving no one behind”, in recent years, the Red Cross Society at all levels in Viet Tri city has actively called on and mobilized organizations and individuals to join hands and contribute to building and repairing houses for poor households and households in especially difficult circumstances. The Humanitarian Houses built and handed over have demonstrated the spirit of “mutual love and support” of the community, helping the poor settle down and make a living, contributing to the effective implementation of social security policies and poverty reduction work in the area.

A fulcrum to help the poor overcome difficulties

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ung - a particularly disadvantaged household in Duu Lau ward, Viet Tri city, was happy on the day she moved into her new house.

In late October, we, along with sponsors and philanthropists, came to present humanitarian aid to the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Ung - a particularly disadvantaged person in Zone 1, Duu Lau Ward, Viet Tri City. Ms. Ung currently lives with her two sons, one of whom is deaf and mute from birth, the other also has severe sequelae from a traffic accident. She herself is old and weak, and the whole family has to live on monthly social security money. Faced with the difficulties, the city's Red Cross Association at all levels mobilized 185 million VND to build a new house of 70 square meters with full amenities and auxiliary works to ensure daily living needs.

On the day of moving into their new home, Mrs. Ung and her two sons could not hide their happiness because now the family has a place to live. Mrs. Ung emotionally said: "We thank the Red Cross Association at all levels, philanthropists and local authorities for helping the three of us realize our dream of having a new home. Although I know that my family's life will still have many difficulties in the future, with the care, encouragement and help of the community, I will have more motivation to rise up and take good care of my children."

In 2024, Ms. Ung is one of 12 families in extremely difficult circumstances in Viet Tri City to be awarded a Humanitarian House with a total construction cost of nearly 800 million VND. In the period of 2020 - 2024, Viet Tri Red Cross Association mobilized agencies, organizations, individuals, and philanthropists to support and donate more than 3 billion VND to build 93 new Humanitarian Houses for poor, near-poor, and extremely difficult households, contributing to reducing the rate of poor households in the city to 0.41%, and near-poor households to only 0.33%.

During the upcoming Lunar New Year, the Red Cross Association of Viet Tri city at all levels plans to give away thousands of additional gifts including cash and many essential necessities to share difficulties, helping disadvantaged people, the poor, victims of Agent Orange, and policy families in the area have more conditions to welcome a joyful, warm and happy Spring with their families.

A fulcrum to help the poor overcome difficulties

Leaders of the Red Cross Association of Viet Tri province, city and benefactors handed over a humanitarian house to the family of Ms. Hoang Thi Xuan Hung in Zone I, Duu Lau ward.

Comrade Pham Thi Thu Thuy - President of the City Red Cross Society said: With the role of a bridge in charity and humanitarian activities, in recent years, the City Red Cross Society at all levels has worked with philanthropists to repair and build many new Humanitarian houses. The new warm and affectionate houses not only become a support for the poor but also contribute to solving housing difficulties and helping many families realize their dream of having a solid house. With the goal of building more than 10 new Humanitarian Houses in 2025, we will continue to direct the grassroots associations at all levels to continue to promote the work of mobilizing sponsors, businesses and individuals to join hands to support funding for poor households and those in especially difficult circumstances to have new, solid and safe houses, contributing to gradually eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the city, "so that no one is left behind".

It can be seen that the Humanitarian Houses handed over in the form of "turnkey" are clear evidence and are becoming a solid support to help the poor and families in especially difficult circumstances in the city of the river junction have more faith and motivation for a better future.
