The highest admission score based on the talent selection method for Computer Science, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence majors at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
On June 7, Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced admission scores based on talent selection, including direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, international certificate selection, and competency profile selection combined with interviews.
For admission based on international certificates, candidates must achieve 1500/1600 SAT (standardized test used for admission to American universities), in which the Math section must achieve 750/800 to pass the Computer Science (IT1) and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (IT-E10) majors. Compared to last year, this level is 20 points lower. However, this is a high level compared to the average SAT score of students admitted to universities in the US.
According to the College Board, which administers the SAT exam, the average SAT score of students admitted to US universities in 2021 was 1060/1600. 12 schools had an average SAT score of 1500 or higher.
The reason is that Hanoi University of Science and Technology only reserves 5% of its quota for the use of international certificates, including A-Level (UK high school graduation certificate), ACT (US standardized test), SAT, AP (US university preparation program) and IB (International Baccalaureate). As for the Computer Science major, about 15 students are admitted with all of the above certificates. These students must also achieve an average score of 8 or higher in all subjects.
For candidates using A-Level certificates to apply for these two majors, Math must be A*, the remaining two subjects must be A* and A. If using ACT, the required score is 32/36.
Other majors require lower certification scores, with SAT scores ranging from 1,250 to 1,450, as follows:
For candidates using the admission method based on competency profile combined with interview, the admission score for IT-E10 is the highest - 98.42/100 points, IT1 is second with 90.17.
This score is calculated based on many criteria, including the average semester score of subjects in the combination (accounting for 40% of the score); academic achievements such as excellent student competitions, participation in provincial teams, international English certificates (40%); evaluation of the interview board (20%); other achievements and talents in science and technology, culture and sports (10%).
Admission scores for each major code (on a 100-point scale) are as follows:
In 2023, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will recruit nearly 8,000 students using three methods, including considering thinking assessment test scores, high school graduation exam scores (85-90%) and talent selection (15-20%).
Hanoi University of Science and Technology notes that candidates who meet the above requirements will only be officially admitted when they graduate and register their wishes on the Ministry of Education and Training's admission portal. Candidates must determine their own priority order when registering. If they register a major that meets the requirements as their first choice, they will definitely be admitted to that major.
