The "legacy" left behind by VinUni's new graduates

It is called “Career Development Handbook”. The intellectual content in this document is dense and useful, far beyond the requirements of an internal document, even able to be published and widely circulated.

Special publications from VinUni students

Dr. Le Mai Lan, Chairwoman of VinUni University Council and Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup, still remembers the first time she met the first batch of students. “At that time, they were still naive little boys and girls. Some of them still brought teddy bears into the dormitory.”

After 4 years of studying, what she is most proud of about this generation of students is, first of all, the "huge" achievements achieved through a process of hard work and continuous effort. Of the 145 graduates, 25% of the new graduates have been accepted for postgraduate training at the world's most prestigious universities such as Harvard, Cornell, Pennsylvania, 32% of the new graduates have been welcomed by leading global corporations such as McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, National Australia Bank, Google, Bosch, IBM... even before graduation.

After 4 years of continuous efforts, the first 145 graduating students of VinUni all possess "impressive" achievements.

The greater pride is that you have grown up and become better versions of yourself. Not only thinking about yourself, VinUni students all have a great desire to contribute to the community, homeland and country.

“Another pride is the spirit of “giving to receive”. Before the graduation ceremony, the lecturers suggested that you should do something meaningful to leave behind for the students of the course, such as creating document sets such as “How do you ask for funding”, “How do you write research to apply to famous schools”, “How do you apply for a job”. All of them were done very dedicatedly and professionally”, Dr. Mai Lan shared.

Dr. Le Mai Lan, Chairwoman of VinUni University Council, shared her pride at the first graduation ceremony (June 29).

The three documents mentioned by Dr. Mai Lan are likened to three handbooks associated with the three stages of maturity and independence of a student, following the "Career Development Handbook" that the school had previously implemented.

MSc. Van Anh, Head of Partnership and Development Department, VinUni University, added that the “Career Development Guide” includes the following sections: Career Exploration, Career Readiness, Industry Immersion, and Persevering with the goal of university excellence.

“Legacy” Career Development Guide has the most updated content.

“VinUni is proud to be the university with the most comprehensive and up-to-date Career Development Guidebook. Some of the world’s leading universities such as MIT or Cornell also have Career Guidebooks, but they usually only focus on the Career Readiness section (CV writing and interview preparation). Equally important sections such as Understanding yourself, Understanding the career world, Understanding the profession and how to choose employers are often absent,” shared MSc. Van Anh.

Also according to MSc. Van Anh, the “Career Development Guide” is based on the White Paper “Challenges and Prospects of Young Talents” – a sophisticated publication previously published by VinUni. The White Paper studies the gap between employers’ expectations and what students have, the attitudes, skills and abilities needed to have a good job and career, as well as what makes young talents attractive candidates to employers; what makes companies ideal places to work…

VinUni students are the authors of elaborate publications such as the Career Development Handbook and the White Paper “Challenges and Prospects of Young Talents”.

The amount of intelligence that VinUni students put into these documents is so dense that it surprises lecturers and school leaders. Many people believe that these publications not only have internal value but can also be widely distributed for students, students, and parents across the country to refer to.

Continuing the spirit of "give to receive"

Not only leaving behind valuable handbooks that are considered a “legacy” for future generations, VinUni alumni will continue the spirit of “giving to receive” by joining the VinUni Alumni Network. The network was officially announced at the school’s first graduation ceremony on June 29.

At the first graduation ceremony of VinUni, the VinUni Alumni Network was officially established.

“As a member of the VinUni Alumni Network, I hope you will help build a community that will support future students. This will be a place for connection, mentoring, career development and lifelong learning opportunities for you as well as current and future students,” President, Professor Bangsberg sent his wishes to the first batch of graduates.

In her speech at the graduation ceremony, Dr. Le Mai Lan did not forget to thank the first batch of students, who 4 years ago placed their full trust in a young school, ready to join hands with VinUni to build a world-class university in Vietnam.

VinUni students have impressed many of the most prestigious schools and leading global corporations with their outstanding achievements.

“Today, VinUni has 145 new graduates, and each year there will continue to be hundreds, thousands of new graduates. But the first 145 new graduates will forever go down in history as the founding generation of students, paving the way, laying the first bricks for the future of VinUni… The first journey of the first batch of new graduates has officially ended. But the path to building VinUni has only just begun,” Dr. Mai Lan shared.

With a batch of excellent graduates, VinUni continues to affirm its solid steps in the journey to become one of the top 50 young universities in the world. This is demonstrated by the fact that VinUni is the youngest university in the Asia-Pacific region to achieve QS 5-star certification in 7 categories after only 2 years of operation. VinUni is also the first medical training institution in Vietnam and the second in Southeast Asia (after the National University of Singapore) to achieve ACGME-I accreditation, a certification with extremely strict requirements of the International Council for Accreditation of Graduate Medical Education Programs.

After 4 years of operation, the impressive world-class achievements have affirmed VinUni's strong determination and academic training strength on the path to becoming an elite, world-class university in Vietnam.
