Understanding of depression has improved compared to the past, but stigma is still widespread, causing many people to not accept their condition, hide it, and not seek care and support.
Relatives of people with depression also have difficulty because they do not have enough knowledge about depression or do not know how to support their loved one.
When seeking support, people with depression also have difficulty finding information about where to find care.
The talk show "Going through the darkness - Journey to self-control depression" was organized by Caring From Distance - a social organization committed to using science and available resources to create positive changes to improve the quality of mental life.
The program is based on the book Depression and Depression Self-Management Skills by Dr. Tran Kieu Nhu - founder of Caring From Distance and the research results "Tele-SSM: Initiative to apply phone technology in supporting depression self-management skills intervention in Vietnam".

The seminar aims to raise understanding and awareness of depression as well as provide scientific knowledge about depression.
Through this, it helps people realize that depression is not as scary as people think, even these difficult stages have certain meanings and there are tools and skills to overcome them.
The series of talks was held in all three regions to help the community have a correct view of depression, realizing that these stages also have certain meanings. and have the tools and skills to get up, get through it, and seek the right support when needed.
More than a panel discussion and stories shared by experts, speakers and guests, the program offers a "seeing", "hearing" and "feeling" experience of the journey through depression.
Here, Dr. Tran Kieu Nhu and other speakers will talk to the audience about the signs and causes of depression and the barriers related to gender stereotypes, generational differences in accessing care, and discuss practicing depression self-management skills.
The audience also had the opportunity to listen to those who have practiced depression self-management skills share their stories and scientific knowledge about depression self-management skills.
Along with the talk show is an exhibition displaying 17 paintings of people who have/are experiencing depression and their feelings when looking back on their journey; activities to contemplate difficult stages in life that are meaningful to each person and musical performances that bring emotional connection, spreading messages about the meaning of life.
Dr. Tran Kieu Nhu signed the book "Depression and self-control skills for depression" at the end of the program. Registration link: https://forms.gle/FY9axP8APXMFFx5u8
