Ho Chi Minh City National University directly admits excellent and talented students

Recently, VNU-HCM issued Official Dispatch No. 791/DHQG-DT on the implementation of the method of giving priority to direct admission of excellent and talented candidates of high schools; giving priority to admission of excellent students of high schools nationwide.

Candidates for this admission must be introduced and confirmed by the principal of the high school as excellent or talented students of the school, and must meet the following main criteria: Excellent academic performance and good conduct in 3 years of high school; average score of 3 years of high school in the top 5 highest students of the school.

Ho Chi Minh City National University noted that the principal only selects to recommend 1 out of 5 students with the highest average score of 3 years of high school in the school.

Candidates will have more advantages if they have combined criteria such as: Certificates or certificates of merit for winning first, second, or third prizes for excellent students at the provincial/municipal level (choose the highest prize achieved in high school); international foreign language certificates; certificates or certificates of merit, other documents related to academic achievements, talents in sports, art competitions, and training during high school.

According to Ho Chi Minh City National University, this method has a maximum admission quota of 5% of the total quota of the major/group of majors.

To apply, candidates access the VNU-HCM website at https://tuyensinh.vnuhcm.edu.vn or go to https://vnuhcm.edu.vn/ Training/ University/ Admissions Portal to register online.

After successfully registering, candidates print the application form, sign and confirm the introduction of the high school principal. Then, candidates send the application directly or online to member universities, branches and affiliated faculties according to the instructions.

It is expected that units of Ho Chi Minh City National University will announce the admission results before June 25.

149 high schools are given priority for admission

In addition to direct admission, Ho Chi Minh City National University also announced a list of 149 high schools that are prioritized for admission in 2024. The admission period is within 1 month from May 15 to June 15. The maximum quota for this method is 20% of the total quota of the industry/group of industries.

In particular, in this method, candidates are not limited in the number of registration wishes and the number of units, but there is a distinction in the order of wishes.

The list includes 79 specialized high schools, gifted high schools and 70 high schools according to the criteria of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
