Speaking at the conference, Colonel Mai Hoang said that in 2023, there were 2 bank robberies in Ho Chi Minh City. In both cases, Ho Chi Minh City Police arrested the perpetrator and related subjects, and quickly recovered the assets.

However, robberies targeting banks have caused morale damage, affecting business operations, health, and lives of employees and people coming to transact at banks.

Colonel Mai Hoang said that the common characteristic of bank robbers is to disguise themselves carefully, such as wearing masks, glasses, wide hats, coats... to avoid being identified.

The Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department has requested that banks need to have a camera system that can recognize the faces of individuals when they come to make transactions.

“The viewpoint of Ho Chi Minh City Police is to take prevention as the key. Before committing a crime, the subjects go to the bank to observe and understand the rules of operation. When they realize it is unsafe, when their images are exposed, they will lose their intention to commit a crime,” Colonel Mai Hoang emphasized.

The majority of delegates agreed with Colonel Mai Hoang's proposal and said it would be implemented as soon as possible.

Attending and giving a speech at the conference, Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police emphasized that he has directed the professional departments, police of 21 districts and Thu Duc City to strengthen propaganda work, regularly update information on methods and tricks of bank robbers to disseminate to employees and security guards of banks; coordinate training on skills to handle hypothetical situations that occur when the subject robs property; support to overcome the limitations of banks in working processes, transactions, money transportation...

In addition, banks must install a full range of security cameras and modern alarm systems; build a team of security guards to ensure quantity and quality, and fully equip them with support tools according to legal regulations. In particular, banks must require customers to remove their face masks and helmets, and arrange a separate waiting area from the transaction area... to prevent and eliminate criminal intentions.
