- Prime Minister requests to step up handling of weak banks
On September 9, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the regular Government meeting for August 2023. The Prime Minister requested the State Bank to step up the handling of weak banks, compulsory purchase according to the policy approved by competent authorities, and report to the Government and the Prime Minister in September 2023 (according to Nhip Song Thi Truong).
- Prime Minister: Promoting agriculture, services and determination to revive industry
Concluding the regular Government meeting held on September 9, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries, branches and localities to continue to consolidate and promote the agricultural and service sectors, revive industry and remove broken supply chains (according to Dan Tri).
- Ministry of Finance worries that Vietlott winners will not be paid because they bought online
The Ministry of Finance has just responded to the opinion that state management agencies "cannot manage, then prohibit" the buying and selling of lottery tickets online and buying lottery tickets on behalf of others. "In the case of buying Vietlott tickets on behalf of others and the ticket wins a large Jackpot prize, there is a possibility that the ticket will not be returned to the winner because the website/application disappears while taking a photo of the ticket to confirm is not evidence to prove ownership, affecting the reputation of Vietlott", the Ministry of Finance warned. - Propose 9 project groups that are required to bid
The Ministry of Planning and Investment proposed 9 project groups to organize bidding, including areas such as: pilot international football betting business; market management and exploitation business; specialized aviation services at airports; specialized road traffic services (according to Tien Phong).
- New proposal for services with revenue under 100 million VND
The Ministry of Planning and Investment has proposed that service providers with annual revenue of VND100 million or less do not have to register as business households. This is one of the contents of the draft Decree on business households that the ministry is seeking opinions on (according to Tien Phong).
- Ministry of Finance responds to official dispatch 'pushing difficulties' onto taxpayers
Some opinions say that Official Letter No. 1798/TCT-TTKT of the General Department of Taxation dated May 16 on reviewing and handling illegal invoices "puts difficulties" on taxpayers. Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Finance has just issued a statement stating that recently, the tax authority has coordinated with other state management agencies to identify a series of enterprises that have the phenomenon of buying and selling invoices to legalize the goods being bought and sold on the market, legalize expenses for calculating corporate income tax to reduce the amount of tax payable, causing a loss of state budget revenue (according to Lao Dong).
- No renewable energy project has an official price yet.
According to Vietnam Electricity (EVN), as of September 8, 80/85 transitional renewable energy projects, with a total capacity of 4,497 MW, have submitted documents to the Electricity Trading Company to negotiate electricity prices and power purchase contracts, an increase of 1 project compared to last week. Renewable energy projects that missed the preferential price deadline are still only receiving temporary prices equal to 50% of the ceiling price set by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. - US invests billions of dollars in Vietnamese enterprises
By the end of 2022, US businesses will have invested in 1,216 projects in Vietnam, with a total investment capital of 11.4 billion USD. The US ranks 11th among the countries and territories investing the most in Vietnam. (See more)

- Lending to pay off other banks' debts with lower interest rates than mobilization
Banks are rushing to lend to pay off other banks' debts according to Circular 06. The lowest lending interest rate is only from 5.6%/year. Compared to the average 6-12 month term deposit interest rate which is fluctuating from 4.7-6.9%, some banks are offering loans much lower than the deposit interest rates of many other banks. - Globally there are 526 thousand tons of pepper, Vietnam accounts for the largest amount.
According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), the total global pepper output in 2023 is estimated at 526 thousand tons, lower than the 537.6 thousand tons in 2022. Vietnam's pepper output alone is estimated at 200,000 tons, up 9.3% over last year and accounting for 38% of global pepper output. With this output, Vietnam continues to hold the world's No. 1 position in pepper production and export. (See more)
