In 2024, Quang Tri province has set a target of striving for total retail sales of consumer goods and services to reach 34 trillion VND. To achieve the set target, in addition to the efforts to implement solutions to promote trade and service activities of departments, branches and localities, at this time, businesses and retail units in the province are also accelerating the implementation of consumer stimulus activities, promoting promotional programs to consume products.

In the first 9 months of 2024, trade and service activities have changed positively. In particular, in the third quarter of 2024, many trade promotion programs were organized; promotional programs to stimulate consumption were actively implemented by businesses.
Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue showed signs of improvement compared to the first months of the year. Trade and service activities were quite vibrant due to the continued economic recovery and increased consumer demand, especially accommodation and catering activities.
Total retail sales of goods and service revenue reached VND 26,144,255 billion, up 12.93% over the same period last year and reaching 81.7% of the 2024 plan. Trade promotion activities and goods supply linkages were actively implemented, contributing to promoting the development of trade and service activities.

From now until the end of the year, the chain of stores will continue to implement policies to stimulate domestic consumption, trade promotion and advertising activities, contributing to maintaining production and business growth, increasing consumer purchasing power. In addition, the chain of stores has planned to increase Tet goods stock by about 20% compared to last year to meet market demand.
For electronics, household appliances, clothing, shoes, accessories..., electronics supermarkets, electronics and clothing stores also widely promote attractive promotions to attract customers to shop.

According to the report of the Department of Industry and Trade, the consumer price index in September 2024 increased by 0.37% over the previous month, increased by 3.76% over December 2023 and increased by 3.73% over the same period last year. The average consumer price index in the first 9 months of 2024 increased by 4.1% over the same period last year.
In the first 9 months of 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade advised the Provincial People's Committee to review and approve the budget for the 2024 Trade Promotion Program with 7 projects of 4 leading units with a total budget of 1,880 million VND.
Currently, the department is supporting traceability and supporting businesses in designing packaging and labels to complete products that meet the criteria of distributors. The Department has also presided over and coordinated the survey of a number of locations to implement the content of developing new points of sale and modern retail models in the province to implement the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in developing new points of sale and consuming goods of Quang Tri province between the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Tri and the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trade Cooperatives.
It is forecasted that from now until the Lunar New Year 2025, consumer purchasing power will increase. To facilitate businesses to stimulate consumption, the Department of Industry and Trade will strengthen inspection and create favorable conditions for procedures for businesses and supermarkets to implement appropriate promotional programs; coordinate with competent authorities to monitor and grasp the supply - demand situation and prices of goods to have solutions to stabilize the market, resolutely and strictly handle cases of smuggling and trade fraud.
Preside over and coordinate with relevant units to develop plans and temporarily allocate funds to reserve goods to serve the work of stabilizing the market during the year-end and Lunar New Year 2025 to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for approval. At the same time, guide businesses to develop plans to reserve goods for the New Year, ensure abundant goods, avoid shortages, and supply chain disruptions during the implementation of consumer stimulus...
It is known that currently, many new policies to support people and businesses have been issued and are being implemented such as: reducing 2% value added tax (from 10% to 8%) from July 1 to December 31, 2024 for some groups of goods and services; increasing 30% of basic salary from July 1, 2024; national concentrated promotion program taking place from December 2 to December 31, 2024 nationwide... It is expected that the last months of the year will create confidence for consumers in the province to increase spending, thereby stimulating the retail market, supporting businesses to exploit the domestic market well, helping businesses recover production and business, and at the same time contributing to the effective implementation of the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods".
