Speaking at the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Duy Thang said: "Dau xao is a Sino-Vietnamese word, which can be understood as 'a competition of sophistication'. This is the old name for fairs and exhibitions, organized to introduce and promote works and products, thereby creating opportunities for the market, promoting trade and economic development in the region and the world. These activities have appeared since ancient times in the world in many different forms.
In Vietnam, domestic fairs are held mainly to introduce and exchange goods. In particular, this activity was held more frequently in Hanoi, Saigon and other provinces throughout the country during the French colonial period. Fairs in the late 19th century. Colonial fairs or international fairs held in major cities of France, Belgium or the US all had the participation of Indochina, including Vietnam. The presence of symbolic images and unique goods at fairs is an opportunity for the world to know about Vietnamese identity and quintessence in many fields".
"Through the 'Exhibition' exhibition, we can learn about the unique features of the fair. At the same time, we can also learn about our history of production, economic and trade development policies in our late socialist period," Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Thang emphasized.
The Deputy Minister of the Interior hopes that through the exhibition, the Organizing Committee will enthusiastically introduce to the public valuable documents about Vietnamese history, so that they can better understand the historical value of the Vietnamese people through the resistance periods. At the same time, preserve and promote the spirit of resilience, fighting against foreign invaders to protect the country.
The exhibition "Exhibition" depicts the space of important domestic and international exhibitions, where Vietnamese quintessence converged from the late 19th to the 20th century. Not only famous in the past, today Vietnamese quintessence is always maintained and promoted by generations in the integration period.
Through the exhibition, the Organizing Committee hopes to introduce to the public a rich and valuable source of archival documents about ancient Vietnam through exhibition activities, while creating a space for exploring the heritage of memories for society.
The exhibition "Exhibition" takes place from January 26 to January 30, 2024 at the National Archives Center I, Vu Pham Ham Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi.
