On June 24, Mr. Nguyen Trung Nghia, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Da Nang City, said that the City People's Committee has just issued a policy to repair landslides on the road to the top of Son Tra.
The road to the top of Son Tra has a road surface width of 7.5 m. After the rain at the end of 2022, many landslides, erosion, and rolling rocks appeared, causing obstacles and unsafety for people and vehicles participating in traffic.
According to the leader of the Department of Transport of Da Nang City, through on-site inspection, the current status of the treated locations is divided into groups of damage such as: Erosion of slope, collapse of horizontal slope, collapse of cover layer, high and steep slope, cracked rocky slope...
The cause is due to the impact of the historic rain on October 14, 2022, along with the steep terrain of the positive slope, the current rock layer on the positive slope is heavily weathered, causing some flows to erode and slide the slope, rocks rolling down the road, damaging the structure and causing insecurity for vehicles traveling on Son Tra peninsula.
Da Nang City People's Committee has decided to invest 4.9 billion VND to repair landslides on the road to Son Tra peak.
"To continue with step 2 to ensure traffic safety and urban beauty, the People's Committee of Da Nang City has a policy to repair landslides to avoid the situation of rocks and soil overflowing onto the road surface when the rainy season comes, to ensure safety for vehicles passing through this area," Mr. Nghia added.
Specifically, at 7 landslide locations, the main treatment plan is to build a concrete retaining wall 1.5 - 3m high, reinforced concrete slope, and arrange stone gabions 1.5m high from the edge of the ditch to limit soil and rock from flowing onto the road. The construction period is 2 years 2023 - 2024 with a total cost of 4.9 billion VND.
