On the afternoon of May 2, Comrade Le Duc Giang, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the first conference on evaluating and classifying provincial OCOP products in 2024. Also attending were members of the Working Group assisting the Council for evaluating and classifying provincial OCOP products, representatives of localities and production entities.

Deputy Chief of the Office of the Provincial New Rural Development Program Coordination Bui Cong Anh presented a summary of the products reviewed and recognized in the first phase of 2024.

Participating in the evaluation and classification of OCOP products in the first phase of 2024 are 6 products from 4 districts, including: Hoang Hoa 1 product, Nga Son 3 products, Vinh Loc 1 product and Nong Cong 1 product.

In which, the Shrimp Paste product of Le Gia Food and Service Trading Company Limited (Hoang Hoa) has achieved 5 stars, requesting re-evaluation and recognition; 3 products Nga Son Sedge Basket, Nga Son Sedge Pot, Nga Son Sedge Plate of Viet Anh Export Sedge Production and Processing Joint Stock Company (Nga Son) are 4-star products, requesting re-evaluation, recognition and proposal to upgrade to 5 stars; Loc Thinh Areca Nut Sticky Rice product of Vinh Thinh Agricultural and Service Cooperative (Vinh Loc) requesting re-evaluation, recognition as 4-star product and Thang Long Rice Vermicelli product of Thang Long Rice Vermicelli Production Service Cooperative (Nong Cong) has achieved 3 stars, requesting re-evaluation, upgrading to 4 stars.

Mr. Le Anh, Director of Le Gia Food and Trading Service Company Limited (Hoang Hoa), representative of the production entity, spoke at the conference.

These are products that are typical of regions in the OCOP Program, and have affirmed their quality and brand in the domestic and export markets. After being classified as OCOP, the products all focus on improving quality, expanding production scale and innovating product designs and packaging... to meet the increasing demands and tastes of the market.

Vice Chairman of Hoang Hoa District People's Committee gave comments at the conference.

In addition, products that meet the requirements of documents, standards, quality, food hygiene and safety requirements and are suitable for market requirements must be submitted to the People's Committee for consideration and recognition as 4-star and 5-star OCOP products at the provincial level.

Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Van Cuong spoke at the conference.

Based on the analysis and evaluation of the Working Group, the Provincial OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council agreed that 4 products met the 5-star standard (1 5-star product was re-evaluated and 3 4-star products were proposed to be upgraded to 5 stars) and 2 products met the 4-star standard (1 product was re-evaluated and 1 product was upgraded to 4 stars).

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Giang concluded the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Giang highly appreciated the preparation of the Provincial Assessment and Ranking Council's Support Team in reviewing, verifying documents, scoring, and guiding subjects to complete products according to regulations.

He suggested that entities whose products were evaluated, recognized and upgraded this time continue to invest, apply production technology, improve product quality, focus on promotion, and expand markets, especially export markets.

The Office of the New Rural Development Program Coordination prepares complete documents and procedures, ensuring scientific, clear, and complete compliance with regulations, and submits them to the Provincial People's Committee for quality recognition of products that meet 4-star standards; at the same time, submits them to the Central Council for Evaluation and Classification of 5-star OCOP products for consideration and recognition of products that meet 5-star standards.
