Having a child enrolling in grade 6 this year, Ms. H. - residing in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City - wondered: I have a permanent residence in District 3 and my child has been studying in District 3 for several years now. However, on the online primary school enrollment page of Ho Chi Minh City, the old address of District 10 is still saved and my child's grade 6 enrollment is in District 10.
When I chose to register my child for a secondary school in District 3, the website warned that it might not accept me if the school reached its quota. Meanwhile, I cannot edit my residence information on the admissions website. What should I do in this case?
- Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, replied:
In this case, the student's parents may not have completed the re-declaration of residence procedures according to regulations. If the family has actually moved to District 3, the student's parents must contact the police station in District 10 to cancel the residence results in District 10 and go to District 3 to register at the new place of residence so that their child can study at the right place.
This student's data still appears in District 10, meaning the family has not yet cut off their residence in District 10. The student's parents need to re-declare the correct residence to the police so that the police can issue an adjustment certificate.
The education sector cannot change the student's place of residence, but only relies on the student's identification code when authenticating data. The data updated on the enrollment software will be authenticated according to national population data.
In case a student has studied in District 3 for a long time, has a long-term study process in District 3 but lives in District 10 and still wants to study in District 3, parents must wait until the second admission round to register for primary school admission for their child.
In addition, students who move from one district to another and still keep their address in the old district will not be assigned a place to study in the first round, but will have to wait until the second round.
The education sector considers admission to the first level in order of priority. Priority one will be to resolve the study places for students who are permanent residents (this permanent residence must match the current residence) in the locality. After the first round of admission to the first level is resolved, the second round will come. Students who have studied for many years in that locality will be given priority in the second round of admission to the first level.
What regulations should parents refer to when registering for grade 1 and grade 6?
1. Refer to the admission regulations of the district/county where students are registered.
2. Refer to the school's admission information according to the district/county where you registered for admission.
3. Read the detailed instructions carefully before registering for student admission.
