This festival is also the cradle of the dance "Con dy danh bong" - one of the 10 ancient dances of the ancient Thang Long land, reserved for men only. This year's festival celebrates the 1244th anniversary of the day Saint Phung Hung ascended the throne, attracting a large number of locals and tourists to attend. The annual festival takes place in early spring in Trieu Khuc village, Tan Trieu commune, Thanh Tri district.

The Trieu Khuc village festival originated from the story of when King Phung Hung rose up to fight against the Tang invaders. To celebrate each victory and to encourage his troops, King Phung Hung had his soldiers dress up as women, wearing drums to dance and sing. Since then, to commemorate his merits, the villagers have organized a festival to welcome Thanh Hoang every spring, which includes the typical dance "con dia danh bong" (prostitute playing the bong) performed by the young men of the village.

The festival has existed for many years with many ancient rituals, starting with a palanquin procession to show respect of the Trieu Khuc people to Bo Cai Dai Vuong Phung Hung.

The general holding the silver sword walked in front of the palanquin carrying King Phung Hung.

Two teams of six girls.

Many dragon dances, lion dances, and cultural performances were performed at the festival. The most important of these was the “con dy danh bong” (dance with a prostitute).

The dance performed by the Trieu Khuc boys has remained unchanged over time. Each dance team must have at least 6 “whores”, who are unmarried men, handsome, obedient, and from good families.

The boys put on makeup and lipstick to pretend to be girls. The dance movements must be graceful and soft, but also free and flexible, and no less powerful.

This year, there are 10 dancing couples participating in the festival.

People excitedly watch the procession of Bo Cai Dai Vuong. After the dance, people will carry Bo Cai Dai Vuong Phung Hung's palanquin back to the village temple.
