On the evening of September 16, the 2nd day of the 8th month of the year of the Cat, the Phu Ly City Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern Model Competition was officially held on Bien Hoa walking street. This is one of the practical and meaningful activities that creates a playground for the city's children with traditional colors and promotes cultural and artistic movements of organizations and unions in wards and communes...

The first 8 communes and wards of the city demonstrated the model along Bien Hoa walking street in an unprecedentedly warm welcome and cheer from children and people of the city.

Starting from 6:30 p.m., the models were already on the street, preparing to perform according to the competition rules. The flow of people from everywhere poured into the street more and more, mostly children and their parents.
At 7:30 p.m., at Bien Hoa Cinema, the official opening ceremony of the competition took place in a colorful and sparkling space. The lion dance and welcome performance attracted viewers from all sides of the street. After this performance, the street was packed with people. Bien Hoa Street looked like a sea of people from above. Everyone crowded together in excitement and anticipation!

The first model is “Carp watching the moon” of Phu Van commune. The model is made of bamboo and colored paper with the main materials, with the wish for favorable weather, bountiful crops, and prosperity. This symbol also sends to the contest a human aspiration to overcome the difficulties of life, affirming a strong and persistent will to achieve success on the path of studying, working, and building a more and more prosperous homeland.

Next is the model “Welcoming the moon with the jade rabbit” of Hai Ba Trung ward. The model is designed quite simply, but eye-catching and conveys the message to children from the legend of the jade rabbit. This is one of the models that reminds children of interesting questions about the legend of Cuoi and Hang on the moon that children always long to explore the magical world. The story also leads people back to the Mid-Autumn Festival with its folk and mysterious character…

Right after the model “Welcoming the moon with the jade rabbit” is the model “Fairy moon” of Thanh Tuyen commune. The model is built smaller than the other teams, but still sends a good message to children about the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Moving centimeter by centimeter, the star lantern model with the theme “Children of Le Hong Phong Ward follow Uncle Ho’s words” reminds children of their gratitude to Uncle Ho, evoking the deep feelings of Vietnamese children and Ha Nam children towards President Ho Chi Minh – the one who has given children an “unsurpassed” love! “Children are like buds on a branch/ Knowing how to eat, sleep, and study is good!”

Liem Tuyen commune with the model of “Buffalo” following a moon reminds of the life of farmers. The moon looks like a sickle, a harvesting tool of Ha Nam farmers, it is poeticized and transformed into a good story for the Mid-Autumn Festival. The author of the model wants to send to children about the beauty of labor, diligence and dedication…

The “Elephant” model of Dinh Xa commune appears in the midst of a dense sea of people with a leisurely and extremely lovely gait. It is the embodiment of strength and wealth. Dinh Xa people always desire and aspire for wealth and longevity. Therefore, there is a pagoda here called Giau Pagoda, which still preserves a national treasure – “Giau Pagoda Stele”.

The model of “Carp transforming into Dragon” of Luong Khanh Thien ward moved next. Built from bamboo products, under the hands of many artisans, the carp transforming into a dragon is truly the largest Mid-Autumn Lantern model among the models participating in the parade on the evening of September 16. In Eastern culture, this image is a symbol of effort, striving and luck. The Dragon is a symbol of Heaven, with the supreme ability to summon wind and rain, at the same time, the Dragon also represents the appearance of good omen, safety and strength!

The last model in the Mid-Autumn Festival lantern parade on the evening of September 16 was the “Chicken House Going to the Full Moon Festival” of Tran Hung Dao Ward. Different from the previous performances to show the spirit of the competition, in the official competition night, the model was more polished and mature in performance. Therefore, the children could not take their eyes off the beautiful chickens, the adorable frogs, the clever and flexible Sun Wukong with his stick dancing movements and the clumsy and awkward Zhu Bajie following...

According to the competition rules, each unit is only allowed to present the model within 10 minutes for the content of Introducing the team, explaining the idea, shape, and size of the model. However, due to the large number of viewers, Bien Hoa street became a dense sea of people, making it difficult for the model cars to move. That brought to the city's residents, especially children, a rare festive atmosphere in life for a long time!

According to Mr. Pham Van Quan, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, the contest is an opportunity for children in wards and communes to immerse themselves in a space imbued with fairy tales, thereby educating them to respect history, love traditional culture, love their homeland and country, strive to study, strive to become good children and good students, and future owners of the country. Mr. Pham Van Quan emphasized: “We really hope that through this contest, localities will do better in caring for, educating and protecting children. Let's give children a happier life than one that is materially abundant but spiritually deprived. The Mid-Autumn Festival is for children, children need to know that to reserve meaningful discoveries and explorations for their childhood years...."
Next week, on Saturday evening, September 23, the competition continues with the remaining units of the city.
